From 2 DOF to 3 DOF flight sim motion rig

    Yes, I already installed some ferrite cores but it does not seem to solve the problem. This afternoon I'll test with other USB cable to see if there are differences.

    I discarded that 100A boards as far as they burn with my rig and the sabertooth 2x60 is working perfect without get warm after 30 minutes of hard work (well the x3 price difference is notable too) . I wish they work well with yours as also works with other users.

    Hi, I'm still having some noise problems. I already installed shielded cable to the hall effect potentiometers with the shield connected to the ground but look at the yellow signal:

    It is worse in the motor 3 (Motor 2 in SMC, front left motor in the rig), you can see when I change from the motor 2 to 3 (1 and 2 in SMC respectively) the motor 3 always have a little bit of signal trying to correct that little movement it left to be done to center the motor and it makes a lot of audible noise (sounds like scratches inside the motors) and also that continuous signa get hot the motor. Increasing the Kp makes the motor move that little to fix the issue when the motor stills BUT when the movements starts (whatever moves, SMC sine, FlyPT, etc) the yellow signal get worse and worse increasing Kp.

    The motors runs up and down but because of the noisy signal the movements have a little bounces/stutters. I think the only thing I need to be at 100% is filter that noise and it will runs perfect.

    Well, after 5 months testing and making changes I finally found what was causing the problem. The solution was always in front of my eyes and well documented in the SPS thread but......I didn't understood it at all, shame on me.

    I noticed that if the commands were coming from the PC the rig jitter and the motors got very hot BUT when I move the hall sensor manually the motors ran smooth so I deduced the problem were with the PC-Arduino communications. After lot of work with cable management and shielding all the wires nothing works until I read that thread of the gods that shows me the way:

    What I was doing was put the jumper from the 8 pin to GND and then release it BUT the way is put the jumper and don't remove it!!

    Now the motors run cold for a long time and the movements are MUCH better so....time to configure and make tests with Simtools/FlyPT.

    Hey Attyla, do you need a pic of the jumper? Its only a dupont wire from the pin 8 of the Arduino to the GND pin. It is mandatory only if you are using the SPS code. This afternoon I will post a picture

    Hi, I'm ending my rig and doing some tests. I start configuring Simtools because the easy to use and configure and it works very good. My next step is configure and polish FlyPT because I'll sim in VR and because of that I'll need some motion compensation solution. As far as I know Simtools does not have anything to manage the motion compensation as FlyPT does so I'll migrate to FlyPT. If you know how to motion compensation in Simtools please tell me (even if it needs some accessory like a wit motion)

    Congratulations on the completion of the project :), question watching the video at 2:40 minute the plane tilts to the right wing while your rig tilts to the left, is this due to some problem with the video being ripped from the two sources?

    Thanks Attyla. The roll movement is related with the sway force, imagine you driven a car and turning left in a curve: where do you feel the force in your body? To where your body will be displaced? yes, to the right. Here is the same and is true it is counterintuitive if you sim without VR but is particularly effective for best immersion while in VR.

    I have a question, do I see correctly in the video that you are powering the rig with batteries only ? If so, for how long do they last and do you not observe a decrease in power as the voltage on the batteries decreases

    Hi Attyla, yes I'm powering the rig only with two 800A 95Ah batteries in parallel (12 volts). It is because the powerfull motor fridge the relatively cheap power supplies due the regen energy from the coils. The batteries long for 2 hours and half before start to slightly decrease the power, it is not a problem for me because my sessions are as far as 1 hour long so each couple of times I recharge it with a car battery charger.

    Here another test, this time with "simracing mode"
