Never give up on your dream, and believe me, at midnight, body hurting, dirty, and looking at the mess I had made, along with some positive accomplishment, - well, at times I just wanted to sit on the floor and cry..........but Never did I give up..........and at this point, even though I'm not at full movement yet, I am having fun in my static sim platform, Buttkicker and all..........and I have forgotten those crying on the floor days.........

Good luck and many blessings to all.

    Tom

    Hi @misoswan ...
How are you doing in the frame work ?
Have you started on it ? ... Or you are still in the designing phase ?

You could try an Ebay search for steering column universal joints, they are pretty compact and strong.

Small universal joints in picture - steering knuckles will also work fine. Good prices on Ebay.

@misoswan ... You may need also to search eBay for a "flange u-joint" ...
these are ready with flange to be bolt mounted from both sides ... select the 3" flange diameter

    Keyed Kill Switch.jpg
Here's what I used (attachments) for Kill Switch (8.00 US eBay)
    Contactor - eBay - about 45.00 US............(attachment)

The steering knuckle your purchased is fine - for a heavy "platform like mine", big U-Joint the only way.

FOR SPEEDY - How would you propose to affix the shaft to the Flange Bearing - welding would probably destroy the bearings???? GREAT alternative to a u-joint.

@cthiggin ... just make a notch/groove to the shaft where to screw the bearing to the shaft with the side screws ... I'm sorry the first pictures didn't have it .
