3 DOF SCN6 Simulator with traction loss

I finished my test with arduino and MecVel actuator. Although I was able to reduce the problem with the interferences with a ferrite ring in the engine supply, but the engine was too slow. Thank you all again for the help.

I have decided to order another SCN6 actuator To my delight, he arrived before Christmas …

At this moment I would like to present my keyboard/mouse alternative. I have assembled a controller with an old iPad and the app "CCP". This is really a cool thing and working properly.

A lot of square tubes & threaded rods, screws and ball joints and of course a universal joint.
And last but not least: a lot of work. But it has paid off and brings a lot of fun

An update to reduce noise and roll resistance.

Looks promising, but I think roll is set way to high as if the car banks, or?

Small suggestion. At the back, in the center, you could add an arm and a rolling ball that would press on the top of the moving plate, to keep it down when theres a big change off direction. Once in a while, your lower rolling balls lift up on a big move.

Thanks for your feedback. I also noticed that my substructure is too weak for these forces. I think I have to redesign it. Man must have something to do otherwise the project is over. Who wants that? Your idea with the arm is also an option, probably with less effort.

My project has become much bigger (and more expensive) than I imagined. The result and the feeling justifies the effort. Adding traction loss has taken the whole thing to another level. Without TL, I have seldom been able to bring the car back when it breaks out. But with TL this is often possible because you can react when you feel it and not when you see it visually. In retrospect, I would probably first implement TL and only then sway and surge.

At this point, it's time to say thank you to everyone involved in SimTools and this community! Everything here is just great ...

How exactly is TL achieved mechanical wise. I can see tracks from what I think are two rolls...how does pulling (?) from the sides work? Really looking to get TL as well for my rig. Your implementation looks exactly right

The substructure is stored in the middle in front, in my case on a caster without a roll.



I have mounted behind the universal joint a linear motor which makes the movement sideways.



This position is only possible with a motor that has enough power. Of course, there are other ways to implement the sideways movement. Just search for traction loss in this community.

I have made some improvements:

1. I have an arm and a rolling ball mounted in the middle of the back to prevent lifting of the substructure. (Thanks to Pierre Lalancette)


2. I reinstalled the gear lever and built a tunnel console with the PCB from a WingMan Formula Force GP

Another story that has nothing to do with my rig but may be useful to someone:

After a few hundred kilometers, a threaded bolt broken from my Fanatec P1 steering wheel:

After the drill out and installing larger (M5) threaded bolts (Tubtara)

Mounted with M5 screw gives optimum stability​

Yes, the part has enough power. The fan has never turned on. Therefore, I assume that the performance limit is far from reached. You always have to include the simultaneity factor.
