    That is one solution. The phidget motors I bought have the planetary gear but they're brushless and I'm not getting into that. Good luck with the project.

    I spent last night and today working out a potential solution that I hinted at before and have ordered parts. Due in a few weeks. I'll update when it comes together. Only spent about $120 including shipping (which was more than half the cost). Hope it works out.

    very informative. i've reviewed the videos, and flew a bit slow - indeed i can feel the steps (on roll mainly). pitch seems to be fine.
