    I've got no sleep the whole week :p
    After getting the rig mor stable I now can see that the M8 rods are not very good. I ordered some m12 rod ends and will upgrade if they arrive.
    With your help I get my motion profile better and better. But i have one very big Problem. At the moment I only added Sway and surge no heave yet. I increased the number for surge until braking or accelerating there is nearly no movement left. But if I drive over a bump in Dirt rally my rig jums up and down and the whole plattform is jumping through the room :p

    If possible attach it to the floor. Mine is screwed down to the floor. Or a base that is heavier and has a wider base. Maybe it's twisting. In which case make it more rigid.

    I think this will not be possible because I live in a rented appartement. But maybe I can add some bodybuilding weights easy to my platform.
    Another Question. Today I bought the monitor for the rig. It is safe to mount it with the Vesa system mounting wholes? I'm affraid the to break the new monitor.

    Or concrete. Build form and line with plastic. Then you can put it where u want on your rig. It will take type s mortar about 24 hrs to set completely. Water cleanup and about 4dollars a bag.

    thanks for your answere, but I think I do not understand 100%. I have mountet it with the screws and hope this is enough.

    If done some litte changes to the structure. I added some tubes for Lcd and 3 in the front for stiffness. Also I added my shifter. It is an Bmw steptronic. The housing isn't finished completly. At the moment i try to figure out some problems with the wheel. Maybe i have to dowgrade the firmware.

    I reduced the Motor settings and now I got a much better movement. It's getting better and better and I had a lot of Fun the last days.
    So again I would like to thank all the people here in this community. Thanks for all your help to getting me where I am.:thumbs

    Also I've orderd new rodends to make my rods m12 like recommended.

    And also I've ordered a new 7 port USB hub with metal case and screwholes. This should be easy to integrate.

    Hello,
    after playing around much with the settings and even got frustrated, i found the fault.
    I made a video. I move the motors with output testing. As you can see the front motor has a strange behaviour. Both motors are build up with same cabes connectors etc. as on the other side. Smc Settings are identicly.


    I checked all wires and Pot feedback in Smcutilitys looks good also. Can this be a MM fault? Because I broke the one on this side and repaired a trace. I also ordered a new one hopefully it will arrive soon and it was this driver.

    might be mm, switch sides and see if the other mm does this on the motor with error. what is smc3 settings. run utility and post screen shot so we can see. i had similar behavoiur and it was a cooked or bad monster. but could be settings.

    @bruce stephen. So i wasn't at home yesturday and today the new MM arrived. So I will change it without testing because it's dammages by the trace repair. I hope my motors will run after replacement. I got some thermal glue to get a better cooling now. Maybe the thermal pad wasn't good enough.
    Maybe i can test it seperatly at weekend. Altough swpaaing isn't really possible at my rig. I made the connections invrted for both side so i can't connect them wrong.

    You can't buy it somewhere. I build it my self with Arduino and Bcd to letch decoder to drive 7 segment. This are party i have laying arounnd from my cluster Project, since this will takae longer time as i thougth.

    I've used a more esy wireing because it's only gearindicator and shiftlight at the moment. Inside there is a little breadboard glued where all parts are on. I'm to busy to make a pcb at the momement.

    If you are interested in more pictures from Inside, wireingdiagramm annd code let me know thank i put it together and upload it.
    Before i forgett. It is plugged in via usb and controlled via gamedash. In the second picture the wire coming out from behind, goes to 12V.
    The seven segment display needs 8-9V So i used the 12v avalible with a voltage regulator.

    You can also look at @RacingMat thread. He made a very detailed tutorial for seven segment Gearindicator. :thumbs

    Can the Pots produce such erros? Maybe they are gone, they are very old.

    Yes maybe switch sides with pots or replace them. Seems one side moves more than the other. Time for the smart guys to chime in. But switching working parts from your good side may help you find the source of the issue. Swap 1 piece at a time. A pain but a good way to troubleshoot.

    maybe i find some time. It's not directly moving faster than the other side. I checked this with sine wave output. The rithgt motor moves smooth with the feedback line. The other just increased speed at two positions and this will cause him to overshoot and move slowly back to original position.
    Maybe tomorrow i can get a better video of the motor movement.
    It's time to upgrade to halleffect pots :)

    thanks for your reply, I didn't know about wirewound pots. But for me all are find as high price as halleffects. Are they better than halls? Because I read about people getting problems with the noise of hall effect pots.

    Today I swapped the pots and the issue was gone. So one of my pots is defective. I had them from my first simulator build where I had no flexible couplings.

    I used this cermet pots. I will buy two more from my local electronics dealer to get it working. There are 10k and 100k avalible. Which one are better for my purpose? The 100k worked fine.

    Sweet glad you got it narrowed down. @bsft is where I got the wire wound info from. It's what I use (270 degree for me). They are way less expensive and it takes less than 5min to replace 1 in a pinch. I keep 1 wired and ready but have only killed two in two months and I think they where both my fault due to over rotation when I first started my project. It's been 3 or 4 hundred hours of use since I've replaced 1.

    Hence I use 360 deg single turn, but continuous turn pots, they cannot be broken from over spinning

    Hello,
    so today I get the replacement cermet pots from my local elecronic store. Semms like the old ones where totally damaged. It feels like a new simulator. My settings work great now. All the problems came from the pots.
    I also made some other upgrades. I replaced the m8 rots with m12 and get new pedal covers. Also my usb hub is arrived.
    I will post pictures and hopefully a video later. But now I need to race :D

    I'm still messing around a little bit with the settings. I can't find a good value for sway.
    At the moment I ave Sway, Surge Heave, Roll and Pitch. all at 20%

    I also added a Tm1638 display i had laying around.

    It pays to fine tune each setting individually, starting with sway first, then surge. Once you have them sorted try adding heave, which often needs something less than 1 such as 0.5 in the Tuning Center settings. Do pitch and roll last then check how it feels with all enabled at once.

    I've done it in this order. I raised the smoothing filter on the sway axis to about 40%. Now i get a much smoother movement. Are there any disadvantages in such high filter values'? Because I read that no filters are used very often.
