Looks like a good old wire brush scraping and i might even spy a rebuild job on there as well. And of corse the obligatory coat of black paint which makes anything look pretty slick.

@Sebj Pretty much just hours upon hours of sanding and dremeling & finished it with a couple of coats of primer then 3 coats of black satin,,,
@Nick Moxley I was going to pull the joint and rebuild it but after i got the circlip's off and put it in a vice to get the caps out i realized it could easily turn into a nightmare ,,,lol , so i decided not to bother taking it apart,,

Sanded the shaft & measured and rapped some A4 paper round the shaft to mark a cutting line,

    motion21.jpg

    Cut it with the hacksaw,

    motion22.jpg

I used the green grit sandpaper for the shaft ,,,the dremel with a stone tip on it for the joint & the fine 240 grit sandpaper for the caps, i also used metal polish on the caps,

    motion20.jpg

Once i had it looking pretty clean i painted an anti rust solution onto the very small speckles of rust that were too fine to sand out,

    motion23.jpg

Then i sanded and dremeled again,,,lol

    motion9.jpg

And then the best bit ,,,Spray Paint ,, i glued a 1 euro coin to a bolt which fit perfectly into the cap hole so i wouldn't get paint in the caps, and lastly i dremeled and sanded the circlip's and put them back in.

    motion10.jpg
A bit overly done i know but i wanted it looking like new.

A little update ,,,I got my second PSU & MonsterMoto in the post yesterday so i've been busy playing ,,, I wanted to try to put the electrics together so that it doesn't look too messy , so when i get a case to put it all in i'm not p!ssing around with a big mess of wires ,,lol

So i went on thingiverse and found an Arduino case , then downloaded and put the file in Sketchup and added a couple of MonsterMoto wings too it,,added some grooves for the MM's to slide in as i wanted them raised off the deck in case they get hot,,,and then 3D printed it,,,,definitely made things a lot easier to work with,

Sounds good mate :) ,,My printer is a Makerbot Replicator copy so my print bed is a bit limiting in size ,,Maybe able to squeeze another MM onto that deck ,,i'll have a look later for you,,

Cheers mate ,, yep it was definitely heart pumping stuff hoping it wasn't going to go into meltdown on me,,,
i just need to get some thermal paste now as the thermal heatsink pads i'm using are real crappy and my MM's are getting really hot ,,Might need to get a couple more MM's and use 2 for each motor if that is a better way of keeping the heat down ,

I guess it would be rude of me not to thank all the folks on here for their amazing project thread's that gave me the knowledge and inspiration to be able to pull this off ,, So Cheers guys ,,,, also a big thanks to @RufusDufus for his quality SMC3 program & @Pit for his MonsterMoto experiment's & tutorial threads ,,,,Plus @yobuddy & crew for simtools and plugin's ,,,cheers dudes.
