    UPGRADE TIME!!!!!

The other day I was watching an old video by Sim Racing Garage where he is upgrading his PT Actuator 5DoF rig with a 6DoF mech on the base. I loved the system immediately. Two slides in the middle with a plate bearing to keep it aligned and four casters to allow rotation, movement, etc. I have Yaw and Sway on separate levels of my base but this allows more than just those two. Now I can have traction loss with either understeer or oversteer but I also get sway and center yaw. All on the same level! FREAKING WONDERFUL. :)

Since PT Actuator is 14,000 I built my own. Of course :p

SFX-200 actuators from my original build, save for the push pull actuators. My current simpit will fit right on top just as it currently does.

4080 aluminum profile from 8020 corp out of Columbia City Indiana. It was just a short drive down to their factory to pick up my material the other day. My wife and I made an evening of it.

Various bits and bobs from the junk rack in the shop. Including the twin heavy duty slides. They have been sitting around for years.

It should be complete by Tuesday (I hope) and I can test it out. Just waiting on a 1605 ball screw assembly to arrive. The 1"x7"(or some such) massive ball screw assembly that I have been using for traction loss will not fit now so I have to to change that one over.

Ebay 12"x3/16" steel plates for the casters to roll around on. You can see my DIY Push Pull solution for the AC Servo drives.

Super heavy duty casters. Each is rated for 600lbs. They have stationary levelers but those will never be used, lol.

Hard to see but I welded a 1" pipe (actually turned down to 1" from 1 1/16") to a 4 bolt threaded pipe flange. That is what is sticking up through the flanged bearing. I was able to conveniently bolt that down right into the 4080 slot.

1/2" HDPE spacers allowed me to place the casters exactly in the center of the steel plates. Fishing the nuts into the tube in the 4080 was fun. Buying the three side open 4080 saved me about 75.00 and this was the only issue with that. Easy to work around. I thought the closed side might make it stronger as well.

Two of the four SFX-200 actuators mounted. I did not get a good picture but there are four mounts on the outside and two inside on that lower cross 4080. Doubling the front a rear strength. I could have put two more on the outside bottom as I threaded the 4080 but that is way overkill....and I am short on brackets/bolts/T-nuts.

I think I will start a new thread on this, as it is essentially a new build.
