Bug A very strange problem with serial communication

when I connect the servo to the pcb, the serial monitor lost its cursor and gray. I can not type data to it or sometime I can type data and send but no effect on the serial monitor display.
when I disconnect the servo with pcb, the number display again ,and type data to it ,it change from 0,0,0,0,0,0 to others numbers

let me find a powred usb hub

thats an interesting failure mode,.... that to me kinda sounds like,... its shorting out/out of power/lost serial communications...
I would investigate 2 issues.... is there enough power ... ... or... is there something in the circuit/cable... that is shorting out

which firmware version do you use? I upgrade to the latest, and the board keep in a high temperature.

I have never updated nor looked at updating the base esp32 firmware.

It will get warm, this code uses ALL the processing power the ESP32 has. at its max settings....

I have never had one go bad because of the heat, but I do have mine in open air as well.. your results may vary.

Thank you @knaufinator, I buy a CP2102 version ESP32 dev board. Because your board is CP2102 version, so I think it maybe suitable for your code. But when I install the CP2102 driver, the CH9102 driver go wrong.

It is not suppose to do that,...

If I was to guess,.... simtools is sending data at 1ms, this will overrun the esp32 buffer if you are not careful and do time consuming things on that thread.


I would sugguest, in simtools interface setup - change the interval to its highest setting,... see if that clears up that issue. it may be like 50ms? instead of 1ms

I would try different ESP32 boards, and also change the serial configuration.. usually lowering the speed will help with communication issues..


also,... are you doing these tests with the servo motor on? and next to your setup,... because the servos have allot of RF interference that cause all sorts of issues.

you need to use very high quality SHIELDED usb cable for this if you are near those servos and drivers

I change the ratio of simtools to 50ms, it work very well before I plugin the servo to the pcb board.
If I insert the 26P line to the PCB, the blue light become dark.
If I pull out the 26p line and restart the pcb, simtools, the blue light become bright
