    Welcome @MJproject.

Please do not make multiple posts and ask questions on the welcome thread, that is not the place for it.

Please start your own project thread here and repost your questions to it: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Feel free to ask questions, the members here give freely of both their time and expertise.

By all means post in your native language on the main threads, but please do include an English translation via Google Translate. It saves other members time trying to work out who may need help and who is just posting a comment.

We have bi-lingual speakers from many different language groups so if Google Translate really messes it up they can help clarify what was intended.

There is a specific section for native language based social interactions: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/#international-social-chats-and-conversations.155

I look forward to finding out more about your 2DOF project and I think you will find SimTools to be pretty easy to use, very responsive and best of all has a really active community who can lend support and advice.

    Hello,
I've been lurking here for awhile looking at information regarding open sim wheel stuff.

Which might be a possibly in the short term for me. My long term plans could include motion.

I began playing GPL on a laptop keyboard after a long break from pole position in the 80s!

Picked up a G27 for the desk and my wife and I both laughed about it. In 4 yrs and 2 kids!

I built a mdf-aluminum-stainless cockpit with triple monitors, diy pot handbrake, surround sound etc.

I enjoy GPL, Power&Glory(GTR2), Rfactor, RBR, occasionally FSX. The sim in my shop is a great escape..

I'm very mechanical, work in water/wastewater treatment and love to build with whatever I can find.

    Thanks for the resource.

Hello all! I also am new, and came to this site via a Google search for full motion simulators. I am an aviation and racing freak... building my own cockpit for FSX, and am looking into iRacing. I'd like to eventually build a 2-3FOM simulator platform that would be compatible with both racing and flight simulators. Belonging to 3 race teams, and looking at building my own aircraft, I think that the platform could be a good training aid. Thanks to all of you who put so much time and effort into this site, and to helping noobs like me figure this stuff out.

I am blessed with great mechanical abilities, and love tinkering with Arduino and other type microcontrollers. I hope that I can be a help to others on your site.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to getting to know you folks better!

Hello, I am on my way hopefully to a diy motion-simulator, I hope i will be able to accomplish that with the help of some experienced members. The more I learn, the more I can finish my sim and the more can then help others.

@gage you are welcome here. But there are some things that are expected of new members.

First take the time to introduce yourself here. Tell us a little about you and what you might be building here. Then read the FAQ as if it's homework. There is a ton of info to learn. Then once that has happened you will see the guys open up a little. There have been some shady dudes, so people want to get an accurate idea of your intentions.

Hello all! I'm experienced with physics simulation (used to design and run railroad physics simulations) and virtual reality with work but am new to motion simulation! I'm planning on building a simulator platform to pair with the oculus rift/vive for both driving and space simulators. . .I've just started researching and have been pouring over the forums so i have no idea whether I'm going to start out with a 2dof or dive straight into 6dof. Either way, building a compact rig will be a top priority as I'm living in an urban environment. I've got some ideas already sketched up in autocad and have just started tinkering with SimTools and some RC servos to build a basic 2DOF model.
Once I'm a little further along I'll start pestering all of you with questions. Cheers!

    Welcome @Beau Jepson.

You have come to the right place for DIY motion simulation software, information and support from a very active community.

Have a look at existing member builds for ideas and inspiration, it could well help you refine what you may like to do for your own project: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

You will find the FAQ section covers some very useful topic areas,: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

There is also a specific 6DOF section, which you may find interesting: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/6dof.22/category

When you are ready please start your own project thread here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

    Good luck with your project.

IMHO 100mmsec is kinda slow. especially for the cost. you'll do better here for less @crammy. check out the links that @noorbeast has posted above :thumbs.

Thanks for that, ill check them out. want a really good seat that works well without blowing more than £ 4000 ideally. The frames i can fabricate at work so is just actuators or motors. I never even new about motors on seats before today.
