    Hello dear forum

I am Ulrich from Austria in more detail Upper Austria

I'm a newcomer in simulator building
but I know a lot about mechanical and electrical problems like the rod system or a H-bridge.
The only problem is the programming in C of the Ardunio and the software setup.
    Therefore I ask for support

I am planning a 2 DOF motion seat for Dirt Rally

Hi Hinty, you might have a look at @RufusDufus SMC3 Arduino software and motor utility. Great for a single Arduino with up to three motors. @prilad and @RacingMat also have great arduino software that will work for 2DoF. No need to reinvent them our members are happy to share :)

For Dirt Rally you might also like to look into adding traction loss, it is excellent.

Please start a build thread with your ideas and plans. Look through the many build threads and question and answer threads. There is also a FAQ section with lots of great information.

    Welcome to XSimulator.net

@Historiker thank you very much for the quick answer and the links for the programming

and yes I will add traction loss maybe later.

Sure I will start a build thread.

@hinty Those are not actually links, they are notifications to the people I mentions letting them know that they have been...er...mentioned :)

    Here are the links:

    http://www.xsimulator.net/community...3dof-motor-driver-and-windows-utilities.4957/

    http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/arduino-uno-duemilanove-2dof-firmware.4564/

Couldn't find @RacingMat s with a quick search but perhaps he can link it?

Also, you can use a premade solution in the Pololu JRK 12v12 controller and motor driver. Almost a plug and play solution but at a much higher price.

@noorbeast thank you for the helpfull link

    here is my next question
where do you buy your motors for the motion seat? I think that a wiper motor has to less power because I my rig for the pedals and the monitor weighs about 40 kg and with me it will be very heavy.

    thanks for answering

    Hello !
I'm Flavien and I'm in second years of Vocational training digital systems in France.
I'm on a project : I have to add an additional actuator on our simulator (simxperience stage 2).
To make that, I will use an Arduino with a tranceiver RS485 in DIY which will receive game's data with Simtools.
I must place the third actuator SCN5 on a structure which I will make myself.

I wish find all I need with this community !

    Hey lads..

I am Aidan, unsurprisingly, a curious meme of a 13 year old.
Sorry. I just wanted to get that out of the way.

Anyway, I live in Adelaide, Australia, and I have been in love with all tech (especially computers) for about a year now. I have been wanting to build a computer for ages, and I have about 30 different parts lists lying around ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I also really desperately want a motion sim, an idea which I have found appealing in so many ways, although I will never have enough money, unfortunately. Despite this, I still am in love with the idea, and like imagining having one. I have felt so overwhelmed about all the motors and crap, and I pretty much have no DIY experience, but the only way to be knowledgeable about it is to spend hours researching. So that's what I'm doing.

I want to thank everyone for making these forums great, I have loved being on them (not signed in, lol), and I have learnt a decent amount of stuff. Now I want to learn... MORE!!!!

    Thanks babes/lads/guys/etc.

Welcome @Aidan Holdsworth, there are plenty of other Aussie members here.

You don't have to spend money to have a play with and learn more about SimTools and motion simulation. You can hook a SketchUp model to SimTools and drive it with a game: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/how-to-animate-sketchup-3d-model-with-simtools.209/

For a small investment you can build a working model using RC servos: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/build-a-working-model-to-test-your-design-ideas.216/

You will learn a lot, even from models. And you could possible use that experience to perhaps get funding to build a sim as a school or local youth project. I had a team of young people build an arcade machine a few years back, fully sponsored by local businesses, and it won the State youth challenge for best community project. So be creative when thinking about how you may fund a motion sim project.
