    hello people!

This is my first look at motion simulators. Right now I am working on controlling a fan to play project cars with my oculus rift.

I am trying to do the cheapest project possible just to learn how the Simtools software works.

I have some experience using the Arduino, serial communication and electronics.

Right now I have speed control of an AC fan using a 20A SSR using digital output from arduino. I am going to have output states changing the on and off delay of the SSR in 16ms increments to skip phases. it makes a little bit of noise but I have about 10 speed steps and other than the noise it works OK. This makes the assembly dead simple by skipping phases rather than late firing like a dimmer because I do not need zero crossing to sync the arduino.

Now I just need to get a speed value from project cars to a variable on the Arduino. I need to buy coins to purchase the plug in for project cars, but can someone else tell me if it already has speed mapped to an axis?

Like many others i have been dreaming of having a simulator since i was i kid :)

Finally all the parts have been sourced and i am looking forward to build a 2 dof seatmover with wipers and JRKs.

    But i can't find out why i shouldn't use a CV joint?

    Greetings,

just another wacko who has been lurking for almost a year and dreaming of building a full motion rig. I think the time has come do take the jump...
My main purpose is sim racing but i do like very much flying. So i'll try to make a rig where i can play racing games as a priority (Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally, PCARS, R3E) and some flight sims (DCS and Elite Dangerous). As a complete noob i have tons of questions and i hope to get some of your precious help.

For the rig i already have a G27 and a X55 the main PC and an laptop for sim tools. I will start a project thread with some really basic questions and with the hardware that i think it will lead me to my goal.

    Regards,
    Beep Beep

Hallo race fans. I'm new, and still don't know where to start to build a sim seat.
I've seen very nice projects from other members, but I'm not as good as them in DIY. :)
I'm working at the software & electronic part for now, and my aim is to use a different mcu from arduino.
STM32 + HBridge and Encoders. I will share my experience with you if I reach my goal!

    Bye

I have just signed up, but I've been reading a lot on here for the past few weeks.
I really appreciate the members here @ xsimulator, for creating a wealth of knowledge, and otherwise impossible experience. Thank you.
I hope to play my part in the community, and to be as helpful as others have to us.

I am here because I am about to move from console into pc. As I have got older, I have found myself not playing "games" as such, but driving in car sims. It all started with a Xbox 360, official wheel, and forza 3; I was blown away. Ever since I have just wanted more. I was already into cars and drive a s2000, so the sim scene was a unavoidable addiction to me.

    I ended up with:
    Xbox one
    Pcars
Telemetry On iPad, map on iPhone 4s, Dash on iPhone 6.
    Thrustmaster Tx (Momo leather rim)
T500 pedals with load cell mod
    TM shifter th8a
S2000 seat, armrest / gear gator / handbrake
    Butkicker LFE

Then I found out about the oculus, and that you can actually have motion without being insanely rich!

So... I have just got my 150mm scn5's, a htpc (prior to new pc) for testing the simulator and reactor.

For now I am just downloading software I need, then I hope to prove the equipment works before building a 2dof seat mover.

I will see you guys and gals in the different areas on the site.
Good luck, Good helping and Good Bye for now.

    Hi fellow SimTools fans,

My name is Nic. I am from Sweden, and I am just getting started with motion simulation. I have the idea of using motion simulation for remote-controlling vehicles, drones, RC cars etc. I will post about this in another part of the forum.

    Cheers,
    Nic

    Hello All,

My name is Grason and I am looking into driving simulators as part of my research at my University. We are looking to add motion to our simulator where we research how people drive on highways. I've been reading various posts on this forum for the past couple weeks. It has been great to see all the amazing projects and learn more about this vibrant community.
