    Hi noorbeast,

My simulator is undering construction and it going well. The control hardware is nearly finished, and I am working on the mechanical parts. I am going to open my project thread soon..

PS: I also joined another similar website named 'x-sim dot de' DIY motion simulation since around 2011, and i find a lot members are the same. Is this website created by the same team?

    Cheers,
    zg

No, there are members that share a history but here is the difference between Xsim and SimTools: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/whats-the-difference-between-simtools-and-x-sim.1/

    Hi there everyone.

I've registered on this web-forum quite some time ago. Seeing as I've not been active for some time, I thought I would introduce myself.

I'm Lodewijk from South Africa (I've indicated my position on the world map and I'm surprised to see 3 other guys also in S.A.) My dream for a long time now is to build a simpit, and when I'm done with my Masters degree studies (hopefuly this year) I'm going to do it. In the mean time I want to do some research and to start getting some stuff I will need. I also want to build a CNC mill to aid in making parts for the simpit.

My absolute dream simpit would be as follows: Spitfire Mk IX, entire cockpit with dome canopy, all guages, control yoke, pedals, gun site collimator, rear view mirror etc. This I Would like to mount on a motion platform. I've been thinking of 4 dof system, with roll pitch and heave on a "hexa pod" type arrangement and surge on a linear slide. For a start, I will just do some research, and build a fully functioning instrument panel, to get the hang of things.

So, thats me, in short. I would just like to add my voice to all the thank you's for the long time contributors. Please know that your work and enthusiasm is really appreciated.

    Welcome @Lodewijk.

Taking time to plan is a useful thing to do, particularly for such an ambitious project.

When you are ready please start your own project thread here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Feel free to kick around ideas and ask questions on your project thread, even during the planning stage. The members here give freely of their time and expertise and that could save you a great deal of frustration and money.

I look forward to following your project.

Li Jian Hui advice you do like me start with a servo motor scale RC to understand simtools and then rather go for the real simulator ...Here in the forum is a good tutorial about RC Servo motor.

Hi, I am new here stumbled onto this site looking to make my Iracing experience better. I have always wondered if these racing seats could be made DIY. I am a 30+ year auto tech and I have some fabrication skills. So as far as the mechanics of a seat frame goes that should come pretty easy. The electronics is what I was searching for when I came onto this site. There is just a wealth of info here think I will be planning a project soon.
