Muchas Gracias, thank you guys !
I'll check it out when im back home from work.

    edit:
    - which kind of Motors can i use with the polulu jrk 12v12 ? Which specifications must they have ?

    - is it much better feeling driving in a 4 dof than in a 2 or 3 dof?

    - will motorspecifications be the same when im running 4dof system, or could ist be smaller ?

I only have experience with 2DoF so far (completed my first platform a few weeks ago) so I cannot say exactly.

But for driving games adding a 3rd DoF for traction loss would really add to the immersion (IMO). Just think of drifting around a corner and having your platform also drift to the side. Hmm...I should redo my racing platform to add that....;)

From what I have read, and experienced, 4 DoF usually includes heave or the platform raising up higher. Usually this is only for flight sims but many people also include it for racing.

BSFT is really the JrK guru and hopefully he will chime in here. While I do have a pair of them I never got around to actually using them. I will replace the Arduino/Pololu755 setup on my racing rig with the JrKs eventually so I can use the Arduino setup for my flight sim platform project (3DoF).

By the way, a good way to get your feet wet is to build a miniature model of your dream platform. Earobbie posted a thread, including the code helped by Aarondc, about building a miniature platform using R/C servos and an ardiuno. Once you have that built you can get access to Simtools (or just PM RaceRay now) to run it. This is what I came up with as a test setup:

Haha, that is cool. Lets take a Hamster place seat :)

I make my decision, i'll try to build a 3dof with that " drifting feeling thing".

I've ordered 3 JRK's 12v12 and hope to get not much trouble with it.
Now i have to look for the motors.

Hello Mario and Welcome, I suggest you start a new thread for your planned project to we can advise.
For motors, I suggest these http://www.motiondynamics.com.au/worm-drive-motor-12v-24v-200w-180-rpm-20nm-torque.html as the JRK , which is 12-16v can run 13.8v at 30 amps continuous all day. Enough to make these move. Or look for ebay dayton equivalent.
Or a 12v boat winch motor, but lets see a design first.

    Thank you bsft,
ive read some older threads about 3dof where you give support before. I think i' ll build the 2dof first and check it out.( trying different motors for learningeffect) . If it runs ok, than i will mount the 3rd....

My problem is that i have no idea how to controll that, specially the 3rd dof ( track lossing)

    I ordered 3 JrKs 12v12
    3 wiper motors
and 3 worm Motors ( they where cheap, i think its chinese stuff)
    for testing

    Thank you,

    Mario

Once you have a few things ready we can guide you through setting up the electrics mate and with the new software we can have you running the jrks in no time, very easy to set up , almost plug and (set the settings) play. There is no other driver on the market that is so easy to use, I discovered them in late 2009 and have been using them and recommending them since, 9 build to me name and counting, helped over 40 members in another forum to get them running, with the software here its even easier mate.

Which worm gear motors are you buying?
And yes as Rob says , we can guide you here. JRKS easy to setup and by golly they are a tough little sucker.
When it comes to 3rd DOF, it should be a matter of assigning an axis setting and a force. Considering the team here on simtools has extracted 6DOF from every game, so a "yaw" factor should be simple.

thanks for your replie, really a nice helpfull forum :)
I got my 3 JRK`s and my 3 wipermotors for testing today.

i have a transformator or something like this, can i use it for a little testing?
Only want to connect and test it with the jrks to see the motor running ?

    Hi Mario
The "Stromaufnahme bei 12 V" is only about 1,2 A which results in only about 15 W. This is by far too low to move anything. You will need like 200+ watts per motor for a sim. But, well, for that price… You can use it for testing purposes or so.

beware of wiper please make sure the earth is isolated from the body of the wiper, or if you mount it on a steel frame when the motor goes in reverse , it sends a positive voltage through the earth, anything else electrically earthed to this frame now has 12v+ flowing through it. BOOM, fry. not good please check them.

Should be fine but make sure wipers are earth isolated , or you could blow the JRK to hell.
Look at the photo, test to find if the motor is earthed to the case and fix it.
Just one of the reasons I dont use wipers anymore, earth isolation issues. testing motor.jpg

Yes its an important step a lot of people miss. Can result in failure or motors and drivers doing unexplainable things.
