    Hello,

Just joined. Long time sim player, and have been lurking here for a few years now.

I'm looking to start a 6DOF project and after a lot of research I need to ask some questions.

Looking forward to learning a lot and having a great time discovering and building the ultimate sim system.

    Cheers

    Hi All,

I have been dreaming of building a dedicated rig since the playstation 1 days..... 20 years or so later I got the Oculus rift and i am amazed at the level of immersion with a simple steering/pedal set mounted to my desk. I am now researching on how to go ahead with building my own rig..... wish me luck ;)

Good Hello and my respect to all the members of this so amazing Forum.

Im in for learning the different hardware and soft options, before deciding building up this new proyect.

I´d have to coment that I have already surplus stuff (servomotor and amplifiers) coming from other proyects involving home built cnc cutting machines. I hope that some of it could be added to the forcefeedback cockpit.

in the mean time i will read as much as possible before asking for some advise.

Once again, thanks for your efford and help

    kind regards

Hello! my name is John and I'm from North Dakota usa.
I recently built a nice gaming computer ,and i enjoyed the building of it so much i want to continue! after a lot of YouTube crawling and web page lurking I found that this is the site to go to for all things motion!
after my preliminary research i'm thinking i would like to eventually build a 6dof racing sim.
I have a strong background in mechanics and some metal fabrication skills. At one time i also worked at an electronics manufacturing plant so i have some familiarity with electronics as well.
But the most important thing i know right now, is that i don't know nearly enough yet!
I will be doing my best to read and learn as much as i can from the forums! then hopefully i will someday be skilled enough to offer some help in return to others on here! Thank you in advance for allowing me to learn from you folks! and i look forward to the journey!

Hello from Philadelphia, USA! I've been a race sim fan since the first Gran Turismo was released and have had a wheel and pedals with every console or PC since. I've also had a wooden sim frame for most of that too, but it wasn't always possible to set it up in various apartments and sometimes sat in storage.

I have a background in computer systems & networking, light scripting & programming, woodworking from arcade cabinet building, and I went to school for art. I'm building a new 3DOF system now with the help and advice I've been reading in the forum, thanks all.

    Nice meeting everyone.

Greetings to all. I am Peter1987 and I join your community with the illusion of manufacturing, with the help of your knowledge, a simulator for car and / or flight. Enorabuena for the forum. Greetings from Madrid

    Welcome @Peter1987.

You can dual language post but you do need to include a Google Translation for English, as it is part of the forum rules: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/forum-rules.9527/

We have bi-lingual speakers from many different language groups so if Google Translate really messes it up they can help clarify what was intended.

    Welcome @altackbar.

You will find the FAQs are a great place to start and cover most common topics: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

There are lots of Arduino code options: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/arduino-code-for-use-with-various-hardware-and-simtools.31/

But I would suggest you start with the SMC3 code, as it also has a graphical app for tuning and lists the correct Interface Settings for SimTools 2: http://www.xsimulator.net/community...3dof-motor-driver-and-windows-utilities.4957/

Here are the steps to creating and refining a motion profile for SimTools: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/steps-to-create-a-motion-profile.228/

When you are ready please start your own project thread here and post any questions you have on it: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Good luck with setting your rig up with SimTools.

Hello, my name is Björn. I want to build my own dashboard with an instrument cluster and i use an Arduino for this project.
In the past, I used xsim for it and it worked well too :) However SimTools seems to be better suited for me.
Let's see what else is coming ;)

    Best regards

Have a quick look in the FAQ peripherals section and you can also use the Custom Google Search box near the top right of forum pages: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/diy-peripherals.13/category

Gauges will need Game Dash functionality: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/gamedash-settings-tips-and-tricks.21/category

And Game Dash itself is part of the Pro Licensed version of SimTools: https://simtools.us/license/
