    Hi Everyone,
Gary here from Wisconsin. Total newb to sim racing and motion rigs. The last few years I have been playing Forza on Xbox One and Mario Cart on Switch. I also used to do a fair amount of Sim Flying and Combat Flight Simulator 10-15 years ago. The racing and flying was fun but got boring without any real feedback or motion.

A couple weeks ago I started searching for a new PC build that would run flight sims and stumbled onto the racing sim community. Then I fell down this rabbit hole and am now planning on eventually building a SFX-100. Baby steps first though. This will be a 1-2 year plan.

This will all be DIY including the PC. First up will be a PC build, then a wood rig in combination with a FFB wheel and pedals. Following that will be the 8020 rig and then a SFX-100.

I am thrilled by the presence of this community and the commitment to help each other to support DIY. I love DIY projects and the learning that takes place on the journey. I spent 4 years doing a complete restoration of a 74 Alfa Romeo Spider, all DIY and helped immensely by a great forum. I can hardly wait to get started on this project.

My Avatar is a 1940 Luscombe I used to own and fly. I hope to be able to experience a similar feeling in a PC based sim and motion rig.

    Hi everyone,
    I’m Dan,
I am looking at making some miniature sims as proof of concept designs for larger projects next year.
I’m an Aussie but currently live in France so dont have the tools or space to make anything full sized here.

The general idea is to use hobby grade RC servos with Arduino, Raspberry Pi and PC to make different motion platforms that can move a ~1/24 scale car.
I want to use Forza Horizon 4 as the base for the test as I’m playing that a fair amount.

Current stage is researching how to get the components to send and receive the data. I have LOTS of reading ahead.
    Cheers

Hi, I am new and look forward to any knowledge anyone can share with me on answers to my questions about my simulator. Currently, I am in the process of working on a 3 DOF motion platform. Right now I am trying to work the Arduino firmware.

    Best Regards, Ioannes

    Hey all,
My name is Ryan. I am currently in the process of building a 2dof motion sim and adapting it to an old formula chassis. I plan on using 25:1 motors and some older components I found to power it. The whole thing will hopefully be controlled with an arduino through Simtools for use with iRacing mainly, followed by Assetto Corsa and Dirt Rally. I'll try to document my build for others to learn from my mistakes!

    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hello everyone,
My name is Elvis from southern California.
I am new to sim racing and my only experience with sim racing is at the arcade. I hoping to replace sim racing with my passion to modifying real cars. My goal here is to learn and see what others like and do not like so I can spend my funds properly. Currently I am interested in the DOF Reality P6 and planning to use all fanatic driving components. However, I am open for suggestions for other sim rig and driving components too including making custom motion rig.

Hello, everyone, I am Japanese. It has two axes of flex motion. I've been using Flex simconbase for a long time, but this time I switched to X Simulator. I wasn't satisfied with following Flex, but this FAQ managed to solve the problem and I enjoy it. Thank you very much.
