    Hey All,

I'm Sean, and live on the East Coast of the US.

I'm a karter and have been simracing regularly since the pandemic. (I've done console and PC racing in the past, but built a dedicated 8020 rig for racing now)

I have a fairly decent sim rig, but no motion. I do currently have triple monitors mounted to the frame instead of stand-alone. My thoughts were to just make the seat move, but that may not be easy to accomplish.

I've gathered up the components that were recommended by D Max (youtube) for a 2DOF setup.

I'm planning on using the equipment to add surge and sway to my rig, as I feel that it is closer to the movement that I feel in karts.

I've got bass shakers set up on all 4 corners, seat and pedals isolated from the 8020 frame to help feel the bass shakers better. (2 bass shakers attached to seat and pedals, then isolated from the main 8020 frame) I recently completed a sim wind addition using sim hub and an arduino with the adafruit motor shield.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Sean

Hi to everyone. My name is alan, I'm from Mexico and I'm 36 years old. My location has been saved in the members map. I graduated as mechatronics engineer and I work as project engineer in a petfood factory. I have a decent knowledge about mechanics and electric; on the other hand, I have a barely knowledge about programming.

I stared to follow this community about a year ago, when decided to build-my own simulator. I googled "racing simulators" and I found this great site. I'm interested on F1 simulators.

I'll start a post in the DIY motion simulation project to show you what I have in mind and receive your feedback.

Thanks for all the support you provide.

    Welcome @amoncada.

It is wonderful to hear you have moved from interest to starting your project and it sounds like you have a great professional background for such a project.

I look forward to following your project and build, as I am sure many others will be as well.

If you have any planning or subsequent questions please do post them on your build thread, as we have many members who freely share their experiences, knowledge and expertise.

    Hello, all.

My name is J. C. I have been interested in motion simulators for quite some time now.

I'm really interested in creating ride shows, but my hardware experience is next to none. I'm interested in learning more about the technical aspects.

Nice to meet you all, and I hope that you all have a good day.

Hello, good to all. Excuse my English in advance, it's a translator

I introduce myself, although I have been following you and reading for several years to be able to create my simulator without spamming, because if you read all the threads there is, it is possible to create it. Thank you

I am Raúl, a 35-year-old Spanish mechanic who has gasoline running through his veins and at this point I need help or advice to avoid throwing money away since I am a humble worker and I don't have enough hahahaha.

I have made a 2dof following the steps of RufusDufus SMC3. With the cheapest wiper motors I found, 1st I wanted to move the entire structure and the plastic gears on one of them did not support my weight, 2nd round I modified the structure so that only the seat moved, now it works, but the motors do a lot of noise, they get hot and their axis has play. I already knew that they would not be the final ones, it is only a life-size model hehehehe since I had everything, it was just cutting and welding, now that I know that it can go well I want to assemble it in conditions so that it lasts and I can enjoy it.

My project in mind is to make the structure in aluminum that is capable of moving the whole thing and leaving it ready for a third motor for loss of traction.

Where can I expose my doubts? open a thread?

Thank you, you do a great job and I find you to be a great community.

Hello, just to introduce myself. Here in czech, been wanting to build a rig with motion for the last 4 years or so, and kept looking back in from time to time. Now I have a bit more time, and some coins saved so wanting to take the plunge. Upgraded pedals/wheel from G29 to Asetek's new la prima, waiting for delivery :)

I was originally wanting to build the 6 DOF kind of large wiper motor, but now I look into what progress other people are making I leaning towards the 4 (one on each corner) SFX 150mm and then adding surge and TL later as I see other people have been in the last year or so. I'm just trying to learn as much as possible from other peoples experience and if possible jump straight to what they've learn't

I got my first ALU budget rig and bolted down cheap OMP car chair, and its so much more stable with no moving pedals, or loosening wheels. Oh and the Vr with a pico 4 which is just amazing.

Hi all, I'm new to sim racing and thought I'd jump straight in the deep end as driving is a genuine passion of mine.

Thanks to the knowledge pulled from hours of reading through the FAQ, aswell as having a mechanical/electrical background, I have started to design a 3DOF rig which I intend to start fabricating in the coming months.

I will document my progress, and likely have questions on the way :))

    Hi everybody,
I am new at XSimulator and would like to introduce myself in this newbie-post.
About 5 years ago I started to build an A320 homecockpit and spent lots of hours constructing, bulding and of course flying. I am using Prepar3d as simulator software and several addons for interfaces, flight planning, ATC etc. Last year I added some butt shakers to my seat in order to enhance the realistic feeling of flying but I didn't ever think of being able to build a motion platform - until a friend showed me his 2 DOF motion rig and told me about this wonderful XSimulator platform and SimTools.
So I started to read all those posts about the different user projects and found lots of instructions and hints, which finally made my decission to start my own project.
Thanks to all of you who contributed to this overwhelming DIY platform.
I will soon open my own project post here and let you know about my progress.

    Thanks again and best regards
    Uli

Sounds like you already have a great range of your own DIY skills to lean on and the community here can help you consider how telemetry driven motion, in its many DIY guises, may ad to your rig.
