Hello everyone, I'm Masatami, from Argentina AKA the land of tango and yerba mate. I've been playing ETS2 in VR for a couple of months and just happened to stumble upon motion sims while looking to buy a static cockpit. After looking at several builds here and on YouTube (shoutout to D Max) I decided to build my own. Now, there aren't many options around here because of the, um, "economy", but for the time being I'll aim for a 2dof plus heave steel-welded platform using wiper motors, which I think will work best as there aren't many times when traction loss or other motions come into play while trucking. If the stars align I might finish it around the end of May, but overambition is my middle name so maybe I'm being too optimistic.

Anyway, right now I'm in the process of hooking up/testing the motors and the Arduino, but I have some questions about which power supply and potentiometers I should use. I see @noorbeast is giving additional info to newcomers, would you mind telling me if I should post asking about this on the DIY Motion Simulator Building Q&A / FAQ subforum? Or should I create my thread on DIY Motion Simulator Projects? Many thanks in advance :)

    Welcome @masatami.

You can put a general question in the Q&A / FAQ sub forum, but it is better to start your own build thread in the Projects section and raise all questions as well as document your build: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

That way members can provide insights, suggestions and help, knowing the full context for your particular project.

Please do check the FAQs before raising a question, to see if it is already covered: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

You can also search for specific types of projects/information using the Google Custom Search function on the Recent page: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/find-new/posts?recent=1

If something sounds odd then look it up in the glossary: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

    Good luck with your project.

Hello everyone! James here from Aruba. Finally retired I can dedicate time to building an awesome 6 DOF for MSFS2020. But like they say you have to learn to walk before you run. So. Baby steps first. I am not an electronic engineer. A lot of networking and computer experience and a retired commercial pilot. This site is awesome but at the same time overwhelming. I have been reading and studying a lot trying not to ask a question that has been asked a million times. So I am going to create my first post with all the details I can because obviously, now I need help. My first goal is Pitch and Roll 2 RC servos connected to Arduino Mega. More details and screenshots in my post. Thank you in advance for all the help.

everyone I'm a new member I hope to be able to share experiences even if I'm not very good because I'm now entering the world of driving simulation, I bought a 4 dof station but I rightly believe whoever designed it meant that on sim tools I can't work with it as the interface is blocked and I can't add new plug-ins, even if I don't know where to start right now
What can I say, congratulations to everyone for the contribution you give and have a nice day
    Thank you

So I am new to Motion Simulation. Like most that are just starting in this forum.
I have been using VR for 3 years (Oculus Quest 2 atm), and this also finally got me into racing games.
Just around 2 weeks ago I had the opportunity to get a YAW VR version 1 motion simulator for a very good price, and jumped at it, having looked into motion sims for a while. While there is a steep learing curve, sparse documentation and overall a lot of DIY that has to be done, having a full motion simulation is awesome and a lot of fun. So I am hoping to find likeminded people here. If someone is in Germany and has a Yaw VR, shoot me a message!
The setup for the wheel and HOTAS are still very temporary, as these are not the final pieces of hardware.[IMG]

    Hi,
I found this amazing resource from watching Peacemaker Motions videos on his 6DOF build. I'm a retired radio comms techie living in Raglan, Victoria Australia. Hoping to build a setup to go with MSFS and having a bit of a race around Mt Panorama would be sweet. Cheers Les

Great fourm! I have been reading for a few days now and finally feel like I am getting an understanding of how this all works and want to start contributing. I am still reading through the simtools manual but I am getting the hang of things.

I am going to build a few mini servo platforms to test some different mechanical configurations. Hopefully I can get a mini Stewart platform up and running here in a week or two. After I select a configuration I will be building full size custom simulator similar to the ones in the DIY section. I am excited to learn and start building here soon.
