    Welcome @mrprogrammer.

You and I seem to share many of the same interests, here is our Aussie Halloween and we also do Xmas: https://scarymandercove.au/

Any 6DOF is an ambitious project. Same goes for a multi-person rig. So doing some research before getting in too deep is time well spent. Please post your ideas before ordering parts, that may well save some time, frustration and money.

Use the Search on the Recent page to find the latest member 6DOF projects, as there have been many refinements to how members build 6DOF rigs.

You will also find plenty of helpful information in the FAQs, including a section on 6DOF rigs, along with design considerations: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

If something sounds odd then look it up in the glossary: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

When you are ready please start your own project thread here and detail your project, so members can give support and advice where possible: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

    Good luck with your project.

    Hello Kevin,
welcome to the forum. Your wish list has a lot in common with mine. I also think that playing a multi-player game is a whole different level of entertainment compared to just sitting in a "seat shaker" alone. Of course, a two-passenger platform is a much bigger challange as it will probably be twice as heavy and requires twice the actuator power, but it's not necessarily twice as expensive.

I don't know if reducing the degrees of freedom will cut down cost and work significantly. We built a 3DOF platform but had to add pneumatic cyclinders as weight counterbalance. Otherwise our servo motors wouldn't have been powerful enough to support the weight. Using 6 motors would have made the counterbalance unnecessary. So the overall complexity doesn't change much.

Also check out the possibility to use cable winches instead of linear actuators if you have enough vertical space and consider generating some g-forces. (you mentioned an elevetor sim)

Knowledge of electronics and building all sorts of "gadgets" surely will help a lot.

    Good day everyone.
New member here. I'm originally from Mauritius and now living as an expat in the UAE.

I stumbled on the site while researching motion simulators for MSFS2020. I'm looking to build the cheapest and most compact design. I live in a tiny apartment with my small family. Obviously the wifey doesn't really like contraptions lying around, so i'll need to build one which can be hidden when not in use. (Most probably no pedal mount at first)

Sckgaming and Roman designs were kind to post their builds and list of parts. My build will be based on theirs.
I'm struggling to get a u-joint and finding a welder to do bits and pieces is kinda hard here. Most probably i'll use pillow blocks and a wooden structure to see how it goes.
As for the motor, they'll be wheelchair ones.

The software will be flypt mover, i checked it. I'm still a bit confused on the settings, but we'll see.

Thanks again for this forum, great community and support.

    Hi guys.

I have started building a sim for something that I am passionate about, which is Formula 1. At the moment, gathering information, I have made the electronic part that seems to work well. Now I need to install Simtools and some F1 2020 plugin and build the framework.

    Greetings from Pontevedra in Spain

    Good morning everyone
I'm EzE and I've been following you for a long time and I would like to build myself a dynamic workstation, at the moment I have a very humble old workstation that has accompanied me for over 10 years of updates and small upgrades.... but very humble compared to what I see here

I hope one day I decide to switch to dynamic you will help me....
Thank you all and congratulations for your work

Hi, my name is Karl, a new member.
I'm in the middle of building a crude 2dof sim, which I'm basically learning the ropes with.
I have many questions, but I'll try to search first.

    Hi Everyone!

I downloaded SimTools years ago but never did anything with it, until today when I found out I can bring Outrun 2 and Daytona to life on my motion sim with the amazing plugins on this site! Hopefully I can get them working!

    Hello!

My name is Rainer. I am a mechanical engineering student from Estonia. I am a huge simracing fan. I have built my own Arduino handbrake and built a aluminium profile rig with custom sheet metal parts.
I have dreamed of making a motion rig for a long time. Currently I am getting my masters degree and we have a course on mechatronics where we have to create a workgroup and do a project. Last semester I did a presentation on motion sim and this time I suggested my idea of making a motion sim.
My weakest side is electronics and coding. So I hope after a tackle a project like this I will get more comfortable with it.
Currently we have limited budget of 600€ from the school. We can also seek sponsors and add our own money. The school has also some random project stuff laying around.
Our inspiration would be sfx100 system or str80. Also open for other ideas. School has some servo motors as well lying around.
The main reason I made this account was to document our progress and ask questions.
The first question we be about our motor and if we can use them somehow.

    Cheers to everybody!

    Welcome @rvassilj.

Sounds like you have some good grounding, the electronics for known hardware is not that difficult, with code available.
