    Greetings everyone!

My name's Matt and I've been a keen racing sim'er (did I just make up a word?) for a couple years now. I'm looking to take a step up from my current desk mounted solution to something more purpose built.
I've been really inspired by this build and would love to try the same thing with the new RS1 setup. Have been reading the forums here for about a week now and wanted to say hello to this awesome community. I'm from Sydney, Aus.

    Cheers!

Gday @Griffin5 Matt , where in Sydney are you? I am in Merrylands and you would be welcome to drop by and have a play on my sim and also get a better understanding of what you have in mind for a build. Drop me a PM if you are interested.
    Cheers, David.

Hey all, I am from Jacksonville,FL and looking to built an Arduino + linear actuator 4-dof simulator for aircraft/space simulation. This place is such a wealth of information when I first started I was mainly looking at pneumatic actuators but found linear actuators to replace them since my application does not require very quick changes.

New member here. My name is Hans. I am in Orange Park, Florida. I have a long history of playing flight sims, with my first being "JET" for the Commodore 64. My brother and I used to fly missions and dog fight in Falcon3.0 and F-15 Strike Eagle III...the list goes on and on. Been out of sims for a while, but with the advent of the Oculus Rift VR headset, my interest has returned.
I own a specialty fabrication shop that deals in multiple industries including Aerospace. I have the capabilities to CNC fabricate aluminum and other non-ferrous materials.
I'm looking to build a couple identical sim-cockpits for my brother and me, and possibly another; that are focused more on simplicity, low-cost and functionality, versus authenticity. The Oculus Rift removes any need for exterior monitors or features.

Chuck, you and I should maybe meet up. I joined a day after you and it appears that we are pretty close, geographically. Not sure if we are on the same track, but it may be mutually beneficial to work together. I'm not in a big hurry; but I've got a shop in Orange Park, if you want to swing by some day. PM me for more details.

Fear not @DUARTE , @RacingMat speaks your language and could possibly guide you along a build.
    Welcome, have fun.

    @DUARTE : welcome here !
and as @eaorobbie kindly informed you, I'm french and I can possibly discuss with you about Simtools use and sim building ;)
but english is preferred here in order to share with the community spreaded all over the WORLD!!
If you don't speak english, have a look on racingfr or gamoover for french speakers.

    salut Duarte !

Hi I'm new as well. been racing in iracing on and of since 09 not the best or fastest but its a good way to kill time. and I'm currently living in Melbourne
Have wanted motion ever since I stumbled across Frex Motion Sim online. How ever the entry price and size have all ways put me off. I rent so never know when Ill next be moving and it's hard to justify 1000's on a toy.

I'm researching building a 2DOF seat mover that needs to be compact not much bigger than a normal PC chair and cost no more than 600 AUD

    My plan is to use
    http://www.motiondynamics.com.au/worm-drive-motor-12v-24v-200w-180-rpm-20nm-torque.html
and most likely Pololu Jrk or arduino.

    Open to any suggestions.

I have little to no electronics experience or fabrication experience. I have been considering using an aluminum building system like http://www.linearbearings.com.au/Products/AluminiumBuildingSystem/tabid/92/Default.aspx .all tho have no idea this will be robust enough or with in my budget.

Also I'm not sure where to source a U joint from in Melbourne.

Other than that i'm reading an electronics for idiots book as not to electrocutee my self and will mostly attempt a scale version first

JRK easiest for sure, Rob and I can advise on settings, the big motors from Motion Dynamics are the go for sure.
Have a look here for suggestions to builds in seat movers
