    Hi Sim community,

    I've been following Tanos since a long time now and was working on a simple 3 DOF sim. Now it is almost completed but it is not a sim that will take your pants off. Since i do not have lots of place, i had to do something small so i decided to modify an office chair as a simultator. It is a 3 DOF sim though but quite slow compared to the sims with the SNC5. But as you know, it is not easy to do a 3DOF with Heave movements. The actuators are only .5 inch a sec but you still get a feeling for the type of sim. The steering Wheel needs to get off most of the time since this is the family computer therefor it is set on the desk. This gives a sensation that you get further from the steering Wheel in accélérations. Have some more work to cover the base of the sim with an ABS sheet to cut some noise from the motors and hide the mechanisim.

    I've posted the 3 DOF Arduino code that i modified from the 2 DOF. It may not be perfect since the chair gets wild some times when the i move the slider at the maximum of the line in the Output test bench of Simtools. Also cant get the actuators to move slowly it is kinda jerky.

    Well That it folks, hope i did not took too much space on the Forum.

    I will have to drag @eaorobbie into this as he has some figures. I know with big motors at 16 amps they are 20 nm torque at the gearbox shaft, real world figures, but as we overdrive them, more like 30-40nm torque. They are faster in linear speed, about 500 mm per second. And thats under load of 10 kg, I think

    Look at 0:46, i have put the streering Wheel and pedals. The first 46 sec. are with the mice. You can see the mechanism at work at 1 min.

    @darkmold9 , well done, a desk racer chair.
    Thats my next planned build. But a 2DOF
    Do you have any more specs on your build?

    The difference between 3DoF and 2DoF is a factor of 5-10 in money.
    While you (mainly) fight with inertia with a 2DoF you must lift the weight of you and the whole sim in the case of a 3DoF (assuming your 3rd axis is heave).
    So you can build a well balanced 2DoF sim with even wiper motors with a total power consumption of 50 W. For a proper 3DoF you'll need strong motors in the region of 1 HP each, totalling a nice 2.5 kW!
    @BlazinH is moving his sim with 5'000 W… :D
