I've looked at the NIDEC ITT 404.458 motors and they seem to me a good deal but they can also run on 24 volts.. Do you have them running on 12V or 24V..
Looks to me that 24V will give them more strength and punch. I only need to find higher voltage drivers then. But if 12V is sufficient ...

Hi guys, I am also going to build a motion sim, I am from India and I must say most parts are relatively cheap whereas some parts such as controllers need to be purchased from stores overseas

Hello Mazar, I am in Australia and found the same thing, my first build was from second hand steel, home made seat , $10 wiper motors, but the electronic boards had to be bought from the US.

    Hi to all
I am a technician and sim enthusiast. The combination of mechanics and electronics intrigues me. I only did window shopping till now,but recently bought a ARDUINO MEGA to get a moving sim going.I was also challenged to do a motorbike sim,but that would have to wait. I also don't have access to many of the hardware seen on this forum ,so I will be experimenting with what I can get.

Hello all, my name is terry I started building a flight simulator about 3 years ago and I am still at it. I am a retried military man looking to have some fun. I have been checking other web sites for software as to enable me to have a platform that I can use on my pitt. btw my pit is a DCS black Shark-2 with all 160 switches working. I have flying it but now I want "MOTION" Looking forward to talking with you.

    Hello,
I have wanted for years to make a motion simulator and when I decided to see how complex it was, I arrived on this fantastic forum.
I will certainly need everyone's help and I thank you even now for your support!
    Greetings to all

    Hi everyone!

I'm a french new member with a SCN5 motion platform.
I play racing and flight simulator (Assetto corsa and FSX)
Simtool is very much simple than xsim so I moved to this software.

    Thanks

Hi @jugnor welcome to the Forum. How about starting a new thread and posting some pictures of your machine.

welcome @forza4 , we can help there. Choices are for simulators being seat mover and full frame. Up to you, have a look or start a new thread with your ideal planned build.
Control boards http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1393 micro controller and hbridge in one, very powerful little thing. No code to write.
Or guys are using arduino and hbridges as well. Cheaper and require a learning curve.
Motor choices, wipers good start, but have to be earth isolated and tend to wear out.
Popular choice is something like this http://www.ebay.ca/itm/GEAR-MOTOR-1...ILLCRAB-POT-PULLFEED-150160-rpm-/370915744975 , or even these guys as have an equivalent in the UK http://www.motioncontrolproducts.co.uk/
    Cheers, David.

    Hi All,

Completely new to motion sims and looking to start a DIY project for the Man Cave :)
Stumbled into this site and it's just awesome, packed full of info for DIY..
Have not put together a frame as yet, however looking on ebay come across this:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Next-Lev...o_Game_Accessories&hash=item1c1e39f112&_uhb=1
Was wondering if this frame could be used to fast track my project :) That way I only need be working on the motion side of the build.
    Thoughts?

I am doing one for the playseat.. so Yes you can ..
I'll have a board underneath my playseat and this board is on top of the swivel point..
But I am doing a motor under the knee build.. No pictures as of yet.. waiting for my welded pivot point..
So hopefully I can start a build thread soon, as I can use soe input here and there..
Electronics, Arduino, Software, Motors, Pots etc are al there .. just need to get the swivel back :)

But that Racing seat is a great one.. wish I had it :)

    @Drewzy , @Michael Hensen
    playseat.JPG
refer to the picture, the best place to put the motor connections is a high as possible. I converted a frame like this for motion for a mate a while ago. I built another steel frame to go under it to support the whole thing, then balanced it on a pivot.
We had to go shoulder mount at rear for best performance. That was using 25:1 boxes on the big worm gear motors. But he thought he needed 18 deg total throw (80mm ctc levers) and 25:1 boxes wouldnt move it, so we fitted 50:1 boxes to double torque. Problem solved.
Mounting at or above the knees will work also, but remember, if its slow to move, you may need to consider bigger gearboxes . @Erwan960 found that out.

Thank you so much for the heads up here :)
I'm currently putting together my parts list after trolling through the forum, to get the "OK Dear" from herself :)
Your info on positioning and choice of best worm gear motors in invaluable... Thank you
