I'm from Brisbane Australia and have been reading on here for quite a while. What you have managed to do is just beyond belief! A community banded together in the name of motion. I Have been a motor sport fan for most of my life. This of cause led into the Sim-Racing hobby. I am about to join you all in this as the first pieces of my simulator have arrived at my door. I am kinda following the design done by ApacheXMD using the Servo control unit. I priced up the cost of following TronicGR's AVR but it was just crazy to build in AU. To have the PCB made (do not feel skilled enough to attempt to make my own yet) was $70au (Unless I wanted a run of 10+ then it was $50au each) and some of the chips were $50au+.

I mainly play iRacing and a little rFactor but am starting to have a look at Dirt2 and NFS:Shift for a bit of fun. Also have managed to get Richard Burns Rally.

Hi all, just moved here, and found this site while passing the time until my shipment (and more importantly my car sim rig) arrives.

I want to give some basic G feedback to my rig, and it looks like I've found the perfect community to help me do it.

I tried to put my geographical location on the map thing, but am unable at the moments, as the 'user contol' box doesn't appear on my screen - maybe something to do with the UAE internet policy.

A bit more about myself and what I want to do: I'm an aircraft engine engineer, who is mad on F1 and most forms of motorsport. I built three sim rigs, each one being a progression and (usually!) an improvement on the preceeding one. I'm on Mark 3 at the moment, but am working on Mark 4, and have plans to make this a bit more interactive. My usual games are predominantly rFactor, with GT Legends and GTR2 being the others that I normally play. I have RBR and want to include that when I get the blasted program working properly!

I am NOT brilliant with computers or electronics, I am more a mechanical man. I susbscribe to the forums on nogripracing.com, and they have helped out with some PC and game related issues, but to make a step forward takes it too far for that forum.

The mark 3 rig uses a Core 2 duo PC with a G25 wheel, homebuilt pendulum pedals using a Leo Bodnar controller and hall effect sensors, plus a double H pattern gear 'box' with eight gates and with mechanical detents to make it feel like an 80's Ford Escort gearbox. The seat was robbed from a kit car I was building, as were the pedals. Near term plans include converting to a dual ATI5770 crossfire setup with three screens in Eyefinity mode.

With Mark 4 I would like to incorporate the following:- A feedback mechanism on the brake pedal to simulate either ABS or try and get some feel for the wheels locking. I also want the seat to be able to move by maybe 5mm in the up and down direction to help simulate kerbs, bumps and the like, and maybe fore aft and side to side movement later on. The actual rig will be built to closely emulate the seating position and controls and view of an F1 car (some concessions will have to be made as it will have to represent F1 cars from the 60's to current) and will use a three screen setup to enhance that.

I'm not looking to full movement as yet, as I'm not sure that a) it would work and b) if it would be worth it.

Anyway, that's basically me, I look forward to finding out how to make my plans reality!

I realy have a skill in electronic engineering, but iam still confused to build motion effect chair for my 3D home theater/studio in my house, can anyone help me ?

I already built 2DOF system from 2 unit of 3 phase convensional induction motor ( 1,5KW ) with DELTA inverter to drive them.
I use DTMF telephone code to trigger inverter, i was try to edit the 3D film with some DTMF code added to the film, so far is work right but i have difficult experience when i must sync more fast motion based movie time line, it's seem my controller is un responsive,

Please help me friend.
give me the solution.maybe can you give me any software to triger my controller ?

Hello, I come to this fantastic forum sims, the best I've seen. My name is Jonathan and I'm Spanish. Wear a time thinking and I decided to ask pack NC5 and switchboard to SimXperience and make I structure since knowledge mechanical I have enough but electronic null. So best solution is that pack. Anyway, I'd like to install the third actuator under the seat but did not know as well, so to see if I get help to do it here and I order with the third actuator, if not I'll have to discard it and ask only simple pack. Well than happy to join this forum and sorry for the English but I'm using the google translator because English is not my forte lol I hope you understand me, greetings!

Hey everyone.....I`m new to this site and thought I would say hi.

hallo Welcome On this Board..

I have been wanting to build my own sim cockpit for quite awhile now, but haven`t been able to find consistent information til now!
Although, I do have to admit, my building skills far out weigh my electronics skills (which are nil lol).
Some of the tasks needed to make a moving simulator seem pretty daunting considering I don`t understand the lingo.
But aside from that, I was hoping to build something along the lines of the joyrider.

First off I would like to say hello to everyone here and let you all know how exited I am to have stumbled upon a great site like this. I would really like to build my own motion sim cockpit or even buy one, if the price is right, that is. However after stumbling apon this website, I do think I am capable of building one of these myself because it kinda combines alot of my skills all into one. Anyways, here is a breif description about my self, I am 37 years old and I live near London, Ontario, Canada. I love and have experience in building/fixing things, working with tools, building construction, woodworking, steel/aluminium fabrication, welding and machine shop experience. I also graduated from college in a 2 yr mechanical engineering technician course in fliud power automation ( electical, pneumatics,hydraulics. PLC, etc.) 15 yrs ago that is I use to install fire and security alarms, video surveillance, but I now repair/build computers for dummies in my local area here. I am also a big gamer, specially when it comes to simulators, so far I have a good start to building my own cockpit here at home. (check my profile). I look forward to meeting you all here at X-sim, but right now my head is spinning with idea's & envy from all the awsome motion systems here. WOW! Oh and Please feel free to ask me any questions you might have.

A good and cheap (relative to full motion in 2DOF or more) solution would be the ButtKicker Gamer2. It allows you to feel gear changes, kerbs and other low frequency sound producing events in sim-racing...

My name is Andrew and I live in Bristol in the UK.

I have spent many hours researching and looking at some of the great sim rigs that have been built, and am really looking forward to starting my own project soon.

I have ordered a G27 wheel and pedal set, and already have some fairly powerful pc's kicking around. ( I work in broadcast and post production, so we need fast machines for working in HD). I have bought a Cobra Monaco S race seat in red at a good price from the local race track.

I have taken a look at Rfactor and GTR Evolution and like what I see. I used to race motorbikes up until a few years ago, but have found all the bike based games pretty disappointing. Anyway, now I am in my mid forties I feel a bit too old for bikes

I have many many questions, but I will start with a few hopefully easy ones..........

I have found a company in the UK called Valuframe that do a fully metric version of the 8020 alloy profile, the price per metre for the 40x40 lite is £8.00 which seems very good. My question is, would the lite version be strong enough or should I go for the more 'solid' version (more expensive at £12 per metre)???? Oh, I must confess to being a bit 'porky' at the moment weighing 225 Ibs (106Kg) in my birthday suit.

I have been looking at the great products from simxperience (Bernard I think) and would love the stage IV kit, but I am sure the shipping, import duty and tax would be prohibitive. What ever happens I am pretty sure I will buy the actuator arm dampner kit, which seems great value at $149. Can anyone tell me the exact length centre to centre of these arms with the SCN actuator fitted?
This will really help me start work on the frames while I get the money up together for the other stuff.

Is there anywhere in Europe that sells the SCN actuators, this will save me a huge amount of money in shipping and import duty?

I was hoping to build a rig out of either box section steel or maybe aluminium box section as I can get it cheaply from a friend who has a company who build truck bodies, but my welding skills aren't great and I don't have a welder, but am thinking about buying either a mig or tig welder and learning. On the other hand I really like the adjustability and flexibility of the t slot section.
Are there any downsides to using the T slot section or should I take the plunge and go for a welded construction??

I have searched and searched for CAD plans of a rig, to help me workout whats needed, I think that I can still work it out with photos and critical dimensions from the helpful article about building a SCN based rig.

If there are any members on here based in the UK I would love to hear from you.
I am grateful for ANY advice that you guys can offer.
