Thanks BSFT, I'll take a few snaps and get a basic dwg together before posting a new thread. I can put it all together, but would certainly take (need) some advice, as I've no experience with motion control.

Welcome @Phil777 that's what we are here for , to share our experiences and advice so hundreds more people can enjoy motion on a budget or even build their own dream rig if their dollars go that far.

    G'day Guys,

    Better introduce myself also.

My name is Chris (Slider to my friends) and I have been involved in agriculture all my life (anyone need a tractor?) :)

I build and restore cars in my limited spare time and also I am getting into racing go karts. I have wanted a motion rig for a long time and initially had hoped to be able to build it with an Xbox however after much research this will not be the case. I have started putting the required components together and will start a build thread once I get moving.

Great knowledge on here and I hope to repay some of the help later on.

    Cheers.

    Hello Everyone,

I have been lurking for awhile, but all of the helpful posts have motivated me to try a 2 dof seat mover. I do not have a ton of experience but I can follow directions and fortunately there are some very sharing, smart people willing to let others (me) ride their waves!

    Hi Steve and welcome.

Like you I have recently taken the leap from lurking to getting started...my visa is a little worse for wear but I can at least rely on the advice and former posts from everyone here and be confident about where to start and what I will need.

@Fede , welcome. as to where to start, maybe have a look here to get an idea on designs
    http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/different-2dof-sim-builds-feel-free-to-add-designs.5624/
Id suggest the Pololu JRK 12v12 for control of motors and 12v 200 watt worm gear motors for action.
