    Welcome Marco.

No reason to apologise, your English is fine. Looking forward to you starting a new thread with your 2DOF plans.

Hi @Boomslangnz, you will find plenty of useful ideas and help here.

There is a huge diversity of member projects for inspiration. For a quick look at the basic 2DOF design check out @eaorobbie outline with measurements here. You can also review various 2DOF designs that @bsft has started here. The FAQ section is really handy for specific info such as mounting pots, arm angles and some DC motor options.

When you are ready you can create your own thread and start asking questions. It is OK to throw ideas around and to seek opinions on potential shopping list items and there are some really knowledgeable members here who give freely of their time and expertise to make building a motion simulator possible for the rest of us.

Greetings all from sunny Tucson, Arizona...
Longtime flight sim fan, these days found on the amazing sim DCS World, rocking out the A-10C Warthog. Have a decent home cockpit built already, and have made a prototype Joyrider frame, but would like to combine the two into either a 2 or 3dof motion platform, realizing the Joyrider is limited to only 2dof. I'm not sure which setup would be best, and am in no way set on any particular path. No idea yet on which motors or anything yet. Mostly browsing the forums looking for inspiration. Haven't seen much info about DCS, I'm wondering if that's because not too many people have made a motion platform for it, or because there just aren't many issues with DCS and X-Sim. Anyways, thanks for such a helpful and informative forum. Looking forward to getting starting in the world of motion simulators, and sharing my project along the way.

    Welcome @HoriAkuma.

Yes DCS does work with SimTools (X-Sim is another motion software). Some discussion around the latest DCS plugin update can be found here. There is a DCS forum area here but it is a bit underutilised, as sometimes DCS can get linked into other areas of interest, such as using DCS with the Oculus Rift.

Given you are not locked into any particular ideas for motion simulation why not start your own thread, post some pictures of what you already have, pose any questions that come to mind and get some community ideas and feedback as to possible options.

    Hi Everyone,

Ben here from the UK, just outside of London. What an amazing forum, huge thanks to the folks running it and everyone for the information here.

I am a software programmer, but love to tinker with arduino, robotics and hardware. I have been over on the Endless Sphere forums for about 12 months now and built a few electric skateboards and mountainboards - here's a video of one of my creations :)

Well, winter is coming, and riding boards gets harder. I love racing and driving and my brother in law showed me a simulator video which was super awesome but like $10k - so I said "I can make one of them" - hahaha! After some research - here I am!

I already have a little servo based 2DOF going with the fantastic xsimulator and Live For Speed, thanks to earobbie's code and posts.

I also have some old wheelchair motors from when I made a DIY segway once (it was rubbish! skateboards much more fun!!) - so...looks like I might be getting stuck in to a full project :D

I don't have much room or big budget, so I think a char moving 2DOF will be my first project, but I would love a 3DOF full frame!

That's all for now. See you around!

Yes it is! And firmly in my bookmarks :)

That's a fantastic job you did with that.

I am a thrill seeker and not looking for realism, so I wonder if a shoulder mount might be better for me....

Hard choices to make :) I can see why people end up getting hooked on this!!

2014-03-24 12.30.20.jpg shoulder mount or desk racer just as good, up to you. Ive developed a compact design and several builds have spawned from that.
    @noorbeast rig comes to mind.
Will you sim fit in a wardrobe?

Haha!! Wardrobe Sim! I think your desk racer is my first goal, but I might use PVC a bit, as I have zero metal work skills beyond drilling holes and tightening bolts :) That might also benefit me as I could extend the PVC in time to become a full frame...maybe detachable.

Done that with a full frame
pvc1.jpg not detachable though, but possible. I had some drawings somewhere of such an idea like yours

    Hello everyone,
My name is Jean-Pierre, I'm 39 years old and living in France.
I'm building a 2DOF with motors from Motioncontolproducts type ZYT90, controlled by Pololu JRK 12V12.
When the mechanical part is over, I'm going open a topic and post pictures and I'm going you ask a lot of questions :)

Hello all, what a wonderful site, I am very new to this but I have all the will to build my first simulator :D
12 years ago I used to build a SPAD (Simple plane air design) but due to work, kids and life pressure I dump it, but now I really want to build something new and I am very confident that I will find everything I need here in this forum.
So for now wish while spending hours surfing in this forum :nerd
