    Welcome @bonkers.

You will find plenty of ideas and examples in the member build section, have a browse, define your own needs and start to formulate a plan of what would suit you. Then start a new build thread and ask lots of question, even during planning. There are really knowledgeable and helpful members here who make sim building possible for all of us.

@all new newcomers welcome and Happy New Year. BTW for all racers if you are not clear which platform you should build, let me summarize all conclusions which have been made which kind of sim you should go to play with: Car racer = motion seat. Flight simmer = motion platform.

    Hi all !

My name is Simon, I'm french but I live in Belgium. I'm 32.
I already have a DIY motion simulator (2DOF) that works great but I never used SimTools and I think that this community can be very useful to me ! I have a good experience with Arduino and DIY motion simulators and it's with pleasure I will share my knowledge !

I am writing a complete tutorial (in french for now, but it can be translated if needed) which explain how to create a motion simulator for less than 450€, in order to make available DIY motion simulators to a maximum of people ! For that I sell a "starter Kit" with components which I am familiar, which have proved effective and which are not found in DIY stores (Arduino UNO, Sabertooth 2x25, Dc motor Smolka 24V, power supply, kneecap, etc...). Maybe I tell you more about that later in a dedicated topic...

So yesterday I made my second test (first was a long time ago) with SimTools and I like it ! I will try to be more active in this forum :)

    Welcome @Wanegain.

SimTools is a great piece of software and is backed by the very active community here. Do create a new thread and post some pictures and if possible a video of your motion simulator, I and other would be interested to see it.

    Hello!

My name is Ville. I live in Finland and I'm planning on building 2DOF motion simulator some time soon. I know my way around electronics but the mechanical side is little lacking. I've been searching the internet for information about DIY motion simulators for maybe a month and came across this forum and Simtools.

You have come to the right place @Ville Pesonen!

There are various 2DOF designs that are possible: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/different-2dof-sim-builds-feel-free-to-add-designs.5624/

Have a good look through existing member projects for inspiration: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

When you are ready to start planning then create your own thread and start asking lots of questions and bounce around any ideas. You will find there are really knowledgeable and helpful members here whose advice will save you a lot of frustration, time and money.
