    Hey Guys,

New noob in Brisbane trying to get his head around programming and the electronics around making my first motion sim, pretty excited but struggling a bit with the aforementioned part of it. I have designed the physical platform 3DOF but now have to figure out how to make it move :). Looking forward to talking to you all during this process. Any help towards figuring out how to get Xsim to talk to my arduino UNO and then making that move my motors would be awesome.

    Cheers

    John

    Welcome @John458 !

We are not using Xsim, but SimTools ;)

What are your actuators ? What are the drivers card you are using (Motomonster, sabertooth, H bridge) ?

Maybe you have to take a look here

Welcome @John458, another Aussie joins the fold!

It is SimTools here not Xsim, and you can check the differences here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/whats-the-difference-between-simtools-and-x-sim.1/

You will find plenty of help here, but to get you started here is some Arduino related info, depending on what design you have in mind: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/arduino-codes.31/

Do start a new build thread, and put up a rough sketch of what you have in mind. There are some sim gurus here who will freely give of their expertise and let you know what will and will not work, and will answer the countless question you will have in planning and along the way.

    Hey Wanegain,

    Opps! Noob Simtools it is!

That link is exactly what I have been looking for, has cleared up the signal path, I didnt realise that the arduino needed another board that can handle the back and forth of the motors. Legend I have a very basic knowledge of all this but I am learning quickly.

Thanks again for everyones help and ill start a new thread with my build very soon.... now off to get some supplies :)

Hi my name's Steve. I'm from Perth Western Australia
I currently have a static setup, single screen & 3D & use iracing as the simulator.
I've been looking at purchasing a 6DOF simulator & checked out this site.
I have no electronic or fabrication experience, but was a programmer for many years (but not for a while), so looking forward to learning. Seems like a lot of good information & passion on this site.
Only new here so just trying to find my feet.
    Steve

Welcome Steve, have a dig around, plenty to look at.
If you are no good with electronics, I have to suggest the JRK for control hands down.
As for fabrication, a PVC frame could be built easily.
Theres ways we can help, start a new thread once you have an idea and we can go from there.
    Cheers, David.

@eaorobbie , invite him over for a spin

I tried welding on Friday.. It was not a good experience.

Watched "How to Weld" videos via YouTube on Saturday.

Welding like a BOSS on a Sunday.

Point is.. if I can fabricate something that was "only in my head" last week. Anyone can!

    Welcome and good luck! :)

    Hello!
Brand new to the forum and signing in from Melbourne Australia.
I am now in the throes of building my own simulator, for the purposes of GRID Autosport and also ELITE:·Dangerous! And stumbled quite happily onto this community. So I will apologise in advance for any silly questions I may introduce into this forum and also thanks to all those who made the way of the DIY possible ;)

    Regards!

    Welcome @kanuk, another Aussie!

Your will find lots of help and support here and SimTools is brilliant motion software supporting both those titles.

Do start your own build thread, outline what you would like to build and start firing away with those questions.

Hi everyone, my name is Josh, and I'm from Canberra Australia.

Hoping to build a 2DOF system this year to help me with my karting campaign! :D

Trying to build a little RC model so I can get the wifes approval to go full scale :p

Welcome @Soc, there seems to have been a stampeded of new Aussies lately, so you are in good company.

To help you past the first hurdle, the good wife, you can find @eaorobbie's code to create an Arduino RC servo powered model here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/marketplace/rc-model-code-for-arduino-uno-2dof-expandable.89/

Details of use are here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/rc-model-for-motion-simulation.4600/

In terms of 2DOF designs have a look at @bsft's collection: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/different-2dof-sim-builds-feel-free-to-add-designs.5624/

Then have a good look through existing member projects for additional inspiration: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

The FAQ section provides good info on specifics, such as motors, PSUs and control boards: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

When you are ready to get started, even on your model, create a new build thread and ask lots of questions. There are many sim gurus here who give freely of their time and expertise, which will save you a good deal of time, frustration and money.

Ciao a tutti, mi sono imbattuto in questo ottimo sito, spero con il vostro aiuto di riuscire a costruire il mio primo simulatore dinamico
