    Welcome @zigzag49 and @Ali Khaleghi.

There is plenty of information here covering all forms of motion simulators, and a very active DIY community.

    Hi all
I've just joined up as well.
Been toying with the idea of buying a full motion active race sim/cockpit for some time. The ones you can buy still seem to be rather expensive, even the cheap ones. I'm now looking at building something instead. have considerable mechanical skills, computer skills and basic electrical/electronic skills. In short, I need a plan and good advise to get me going in the right direction. I think the mechanical work will be quite easy to achieve, It's sourcing suitable servos and controller boards and making it all work electrically that I'm going to need the most help with. Hope I've come to the right place.

    Cheers TeZ.

Hi all. Just joined today. Want to build a motion sim this summer. I will spend the next few months reading (we relocate to Arizona In winter), and then start accumulating parts so I can build in Minnesota in the summer.

Thanks to all who have contributed here. I have nearly everything to learn.

    Hi everyone,

I am currently based in Berlin and after 9 years of almost complete abstinence from gaming due to university/grad school I was lured back by my interest in the upcoming release of OculusRift. I recently decided it was time to buy a new PC to catch up on the gaming pearls that I missed. On top of that I decided it was time for a new project that would go nicely with the Oculus, once the consumer version arrives. There the idea of a motion sim was born. Starting out with buying a T500 RS, I am currently assembling the parts to start my build for a 2DOF with optional 4DOF later on. I intend to build a convertible that can go either as full frame or seatmover as space is an issue which will be resolved in the coming years :).
The frame is still in early planning and details will be released in a new thread as soon as available. Most will be made of aluminum and held together by screws, as i need to be able to take it apart and move the thing across borders at one point . The electronics will be based on 2x 90ZYT with MCP4 1:60 worm gear motors, 2 x chinese monster moto shield, 1 x arduino uno (original), 1x 930W DELL server power supply.

Thanks to the active members for their great work so far, looking forward to getting some input as soon as I start my building thread!

    Cheers,

    Chlumpi

Hi @noorbeast, I of course already saw your build in the showroom - very impressive. Apart from the LED light show and subwoofer ;) , its very similar to what I am aiming for. Thanks a lot for the inspiration!

Hi everybody. My name is Christian and too have very recently joined this community. I have been very interested in motion sims for a while now but for some reason never really started looking into it. I have come across a post in a external forum by a member of this community and that really gave the push to look into building a motion rig.

Since then I have spend a considerable amount of time reading and researching and now I am starting to narrow down what design would suit me the best.
At this point I want to thank everybody on this forum who is providing any info and advice. I have already got a much better understanding of what is involved in motion sim building and have not even had to ask a single question.:)

Kudos to all members who so willingly help out others!!! Top stuff!!!:cheers

    Cheers,

    Christian

Hey Christian, welcome to the forum, another fellow Aussie!.

I am new-ish member myself, but went from knowing nothing on Jan 1st to having a full on motion Sim by the 18th Feb, just using all the resources at your fingertips on this forum. Please ask heaps of questions and search the forum, everyone is more than happy to help where needed. It also helps if you have clear design plan and a few concept pictures. Help people visualise what you want to do / aim to achieve.

    All the best,

    Archie.

    Thanks Archie.
Wow, seems like you didn't waste any time. Good work!

I'm still in the early planning stages but it will happen... hopefully sooner rather than later.

    Cheers,

    Christian

    Hello !

One more new french guy about to enter the 2DOF family :)
I have already a static cockpit, and I'm about to add motion to it. I'll be setting up an arduino + sabertooth + 24V DC motors.
I'm currently finishing to collect the hardware/mechanical parts, and reading, reading, learning, learning on the forums. There is such a large community, it is amazing !

See you soon in other sections ;)

    Welcome @vthinsel.

I am gathering that if you are collecting parts then you already have a build plan in mind. It would be great if you started your own build thread and elaborate what you plan as your build, I and many others would be really interested. Feel free to also ask any questions that come to mind in the planning and build phase, there is a really active community with a lot of experience that is freely shared.

    Good luck with your project.

    Hi,

My name is Francois and I am a beginner in simracing.
I love beautiful cars and I like driving on real circuits and participate in races.
With a friend, we started building a prototype cockpit 2 DOF.
We chose the motion kit SimXperience (2 and 1 SNC5 SX4000).
We have also added 4 BassShakers.

The Simcommander 4 software is in beta version.
    We have stability problems.

I would like to drive the test SimTools SCN5 / SX4000 kit.
Is it possible to use SimTools for BassShakers (as Simvibe)?

Hello all, new to the site and new to simulators. Thought this would be a good way to reach out to my gamer son with something constructive. Should be a fun new hobby. Great site!

    Welcome @Soupsamich.

Certainly others have found that motion sim projects do perk the interest of young people. @bsft has a pair of mobile sims that he hires out at events and they are certainly popular.
