    Welcome @Quertreiber.

Have a look at existing member builds for ideas and inspiration, it could well help you refine what you may like to do for your own project: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Full frame and seat shaker designs both work fine but some hard core sim racers prefer seat shakers because of the additional ankle, wrist and torso motion cues: http://www.xsimulator.net/community...light-with-oculus-rift.6179/page-2#post-68232

When you are ready please start your own project thread.

And don't forget to take a moment and add yourself to the Member Map: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/memberMap/

    Good luck with your project.

Hi, im wokcz from Argentina. I've had the idea of building a racing sim for more than a decade, but when I researched about it back in the day, it was so expensive to build that I lost interest. I recently found this site, and saw some of the rigs you guys made using wiper motors and that got me excited about building one once again. I've basic knowledge of electronics and pretty good coding skills so I think that will help in the process. Thanks everyone for all the great info you share here, and I will probably bother you with my questions soon :)

    Welcome @martin falz.

Don't worry about your English, if you want dual post in German and use Google translate for English. The Google translation in English helps other members like me to work out i you are asking for help or just making a comment. We have many bilingual members who can clarify if the Google translate is confusing.

When you are ready please start your own project thread.

On your thread do ask questions, there is a lot to take in but the community is good at giving tips during planning, reviewing purchase lists, giving feedback and encouragement during the build and providing advice on actually sorting out motion profiles.

And don't forget to take a moment and add yourself to the Member Map: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/memberMap/

    Good luck with your project.

Hi everybody, my name is Fredrik and as i stumbled across this site i realized that i could do something wich is my love since i was a teenager..RACE AGAIN.
I used to race gocarts up to the age of 25 when i had to quit due to the facts that the cost in 250cc Superkarts were running wild, and sponsors were hard to come by in Sweden.
Well i never stopped racing hihi, Grand Prix was released for PC and i was ofcourse hooked and bought my first thrustmaster wheel, then i started to buy virtually all the racing games there was, but something was missing.........The Feeling wasnt there.
So now im going to grab this opportunity to build me a real sim to my wifes moan about we dont have the space. Well im going for a compact framed 2 or 3dof build. Hopefully with all extra goodies there is out there.
So i will be reading up on all of the builds to make me a own oppinion of what i want.
Im a pretty good welder and mechanic so the tube frame wont be the big issue, the electrics probably will be :).
    Happy building and racing
    Fredrik

    Welcome @Fredrik J.

Start your own project thread, give the outline above plus some further crucial details like the measurements for the space your 3DOF rig would need to fit into, and ask questions. There is a lot to take in but the community is good at giving tips during planning, reviewing purchase lists, giving feedback and encouragement during the build and providing advice on actually sorting out motion profiles.

Have a look at existing member builds for ideas and inspiration, it could well help you refine what you may like to do for your own project: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

You will find the FAQ section covers some more specific topic areas, like types of simulators, designs and motors: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

And please take a moment and add yourself to the Member Map: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/memberMap/

    Good luck with your project.

So ill be on my own build thread as soon as i get scetchy to work as i want hehe.
Superb advice and i really like the large amount of projects on this site that you can get ideas and choose from.

    Hello all,

I`m JanJoost from the Netherlands. I came to find Xsimulator as a user of the Frex Simconmotion. Support from frex for the newer simulations is very poor, so I am looking for a alternative. I already bought and connected 2 RS485 usb converters and now ready for setting up Xsimulator.

I have 1 question though.. I`m still loving Grand prix legends and frex was running it fine..Does Xsimulator also have a plugin for Grand Prix Legends?

    Thanks JanJoost.

oke, I am thinking to make a switch between the simconmotion and the RS485 converters so I can revert back when I want to play GPL.

Hello guys, my name is Mitchell and i am from the Netherlands.
Just started to build my 2DOF sim.

Got it working with an arduino nano, 2 wiper motors, and for now an 4A motor controller ( just for test purposes )

I really like the Simtools software! it looks so simple, but everything is possible!
    Great job guys, Really!

    Hi all,

just found this forum, googling for ideas for my garage (incredible hein)
this is a fantastic forum for the little I already been reading.
I still don't have any project on my head ... basically I think I will just learn first and then slowly understand everything so I can build my own ... I'm such a noob in electronics and that kind of stuff that I still have the normal thinking "nah , I can't do it"

    Cheers

I bought a motion theater simulator that will seat two people. It has a 5 point harness and will do a full 360 degree roll and a 20 degree pitch forward and back. I bought this years ago.
The software is installed on a windows 2000 platform which is protected. I can program it to follow a movie but I'm not allowed to access any tweaking any of the controls to adjust the torque conversions to complete the roll.
So far when I try to use it.... The unit locks-up before the ride is completed..... IT may be a simple bent shaft or just software adjustments. Since the company no longer exists so there is no way for me to gain access to the protected settings. I joined this forum to see how I would go about making this fully interactive with two riders inside and even have some players outside playing the same game..... Against each other.
Then allowing them to trade places and play against each other.
Lots of work to learn and understand with this project. And a challenge how to make a conversion.

With my avatar you can see two riders upside down in a working unit. This is the same as mine.

    Welcome @SmartCraft.

Please start your own project thread here and provide lots of photos of your simulator, any motors, control boards and the like:
    http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

While the company may be dead it would be worth doing an extensive internet search for documentation about your simulator and also post that to your thread.

The more accurate and comprehensive the information, the easier it will be for members here to provide advice.

It will be good to get this project going again
I don't know if I should post a video of the unit in this forum yet. I do have it on youtube.
I will start a projects page soon.
    Thanks

    Welcome @Alechivo.

By all means post in Spanish but please do also include an English translation via Google Translate. It saves other members time trying to work out who may need help and who is just posting a comment. We have bi-lingual speakers from many different language groups so if Google Translate really messes it up they can help clarify what was intended.
