Assetto Corsa VR related dev notes - Don't get your hopes up

    One tip for you guys if see it blurry: turn post-processing effects OFF (and disable anti-aliasing otherwise you won't see in game menus)
    It will be really crisp and... I'm an happy man, I can put pCars aside; it's a nice simulcade game with a lot of nice features (night/rain...) but when it comes to physics, FFB and motion Assetto is a lot better

    Pcars is now officially dead....Only reason some were playing was for VR......now....not so much.....would be interesting to see the Sharp Drop off in online players yesterday for them.

    it is booting game thru steam vr and seems to be showing the theater view for assetto corsa but game is on the monitor ?
    it then says in the dk2 connecting to game ?
    but game is running on the monitor.
    im abit stuck tbh as i am just messing again as not had anytime free for my sim and not switched it on for ages and seen this today and tried to find out why this is happening :-(

    could it be the setting in game before steam vr takes over like do i leave the setting off the rift in monitor version setup.

    its defo taking me into the theater first i don't think it should do this.

    I just launch Oculs home and then AC. Then it works just like pCars.
    I've never seen the theater with AC

    What you see in the monitor is the mirror of the rift. Do you see the two eyes screen or just the normal one? Did you select Oculus Rift in video preferences in Assetto Corsa settings?

    i tried it with the standard launch and got nothing in the rift but when i treid it with steam vr running it said about hmd option but thta then takes me toi theater mode by looks of it.
    assetto corsa says its running 1.6 so its got the update im going to check setting again.

    i think i have an issue somewhere just tried project cars as i normally would and that is not booting in the rift either :-(
    yes you do what i do normally but for some reason im not working:-(
    im rebooting pc see what happens then.
    i did try fsx and that worked as normal and booted see what the rstart does now i guess.

    looking like i got a computer issue now after restart not booting the rift up now says its booted up blue light but nothing on it. so im guessing a driver issue as i did update the usb drivers to the card i have. might be that then. but was working 10 mins ago to nothing now. doh lol

    ive lost the vr to project cars and assetto corsa from my normal way i boot and i can not get either to work on rift atm, flyinside is working tho and boots.
    will have to check this issue out but was working fine last time i used th comp.
    oculus home is working fine too.

    still having issues getting assetto corsa to work but have found out why project cars is not booting in the rift, the new updates seem to give a choice in steam for vive or oculus and you tick which you want to start the game with, prob when im not tired i will look see if there a way to boot from an exe with a short cut. but anyway got that working again just got to get assetto working now what i've been waiting for is this runtime update.

    still got issue launcing ac do you still have to go into config xml files to get it to work with the rift ? as i'm running fresh install as never sorted that with it not have 1.3 runtime so was running pc as that worked prefect, i have switcher tho but stll never botherd till things actually updated like it is now so kinda need to solve it for ac.
    i take it its still the same issues to get working then.
    im going to spend some time today to get it running as been waiting for so long for this update.
    im guessing it has not fixed the original issue getting it to connect to the rift.

    i can not boot the 64bit pc now either i don't think i have to go thru steam to launch to select rift, but before i had to use the shortcut on desktop i put there from the pc folder with the 64bit version.
    think being out of it for awhile has thron what i new out the window with all the new updates ! doh.

    AC works fine on my DK2 with 1.3 - although having to turn off post-processing effects and disable anti-aliasing, has lowered the detail that you can see in the game which I do not like.

    In documents\assetto corsa\cfg\oculus.ini you can put
    PIXEL_PER_DISPLAY=2 (or 1.5 depending on your pc)
    this way the game looks waaaaaay better. Also I set anisotropic filtering to just 2, that's more than enough, because previous parameter does the trick.
