Hi All, I'm new here. Been wondering something reading through these forums.

I'm quite intrigued with the 2DOF seat mover - I wasn't aware it was so "do-able". So I'm wondering, do people setup 2DOF with Buttkickers/Bassshakers as well, or just either or? I was originally gonna go down the bass shaker route, but I'm wondering if the 2DOF seat mover takes care of that? or if both in tandem give different effects?

Still trying to wrap my head around all this. I was gonna make a simple simulator but my mind is now racing with ideas.

    Cheers.

Shakers complement motion .things like engine vibrations, road textures and vibrations felt through the chassis of the car.

Thanks for the reply Sebj. Do people stick to using 1 or 4 (one for each "wheel well".
    Cheers

I find most run a couple in extensions mode. I under the pedals and the other behind or under the seat.
In chassis, two on either side of the pedal mount and two off the sides of the seat frame or mount.

I recorded a small video just to proove the buyer it was fully working

...and monday they're releasing the Dirt Rally Oclus Rift update! I'll have to wait till CV1 ships (they say August but I bet it's gonna be September...)

My understanding is that Oculus has nearly caught up with the pre-order backlog, so you may be lucky with August.

I got mine a month earlier than expected, so it may be earlier for you too.
Now it takes one month from the time it was ordered.

4 days. It's how it took them to ship it. Just got the email, ordered 4 days ago and shipped today.

The problem is I got no video card, I had just sold my 970 and with that money found a brand new 980 that hasn't already been shipped (ebay users...)
Edit: right now I'm using a 770 a friend of mine borrowed me

About shipping times: are they catching up because of higher production or because or lower orders?
Seems like the Vive has sold twice the Rift and the gap is increasing more and more nowadays

Its the tail end of pre-orders, and Oculus has not done itself any favors with the bungled launch. Oculus is still in catch up mode, with the release and cost of Touch still being a big unknown.

It's certainly put a lot of Developers offside.

I only got my rift as a friend of a friend mentioned that a Developer he knew in Melbourne was selling ALL 12 of his Rift's in favour of the HTC Vive. He simply could not wait any longer for the touch side of things to come along, so they have gone down the HTC path.

I have dropped Rift dev work for my projects and have used the Vive instead. I think Touch has some really interesting capability for devs, but until other than a select few devs can get their hands on Touch and there is some indication of adoption rates it is pointless trying to develop for it.

Oculus argued that it bundled the Xbone controller as a standard. In my opinion that was a bad move and the same argument applies in reverse, from a dev point of view Touch is nothing unless it is the Oculus standard and included with every Rift, which is actually unlikely in gen1.

SteamVR has added Touch support so it makes mores sense at this stage to develop under that umbrella, with the expectation of what you are creating being easy to add Touch support.

Delivered! One day earlier. One week from order to my place!

Ok, I don't have to tell you how is it, because a lot of you already got it.

Just two lines from my own experience:
Weight and ergonomics, feels much better than DK2
God rays, oooouuuuuhhhh Goooddd... I'll have to get used to them
Heat, Yes, I can feel the heat coming from it, expecially the upper side. Is it just mine or yours is hot too??
SDE, Much better than DK2 but you can't say it's not there anymore
Sound, better than I expected. One less cable for me.
XBox One controller, a waste of money. Already had a 360 controller, haven't even installed it

More to come, just tested it 10 minutes with Assetto Corsa, then I bought the RedPack that's just finished downloading...

Hey @noorbeast @SilentChill @SeatTime @shannonb1 (the ones I remember got the Rift), two questions for you, please: is your CV1 hot on the upper side even when you're not using it? Is it fine to leave the Oculus Home application open even if you're not using the Rift or it'd be better closing it?
I am a little warried about the heat of the Rift, I wouldn't want to have a faulty one

    Thanks

Yes the Rift does get warm if it is running.

I don't leave Oculus Home running all the time, though that is not about tin foil hat conspiracies concerning Face book spying on you, rather it is about security and longevity.

My understanding is that Oculus Home is beta and uses kernel level code for efficiency, which always has potential code flaws, plus I have no good reason to have it running if not being used, so I want my Rift completely off. In my view having Oculus Home start on demand is a better way to go: http://mushroomtomatoes.com/2016/04...to-starting-stop-riftcamera-from-running-hot/

After my G27 went back to Amazon because of hardware failure (I'm glad I didn't sell the DFGT, I still haven't ordered a new one because I'm unsure between G29 and T300. I wouldn't want Logitech anymore but I don't like T300 pedals too) another wiper motor said farewell. This time one motor has become really slow in responding.
Being the third (the other two broke the arm), I think I'm done with wiper motors, time to go with something better.

I'm going to order two of these, from pgsaw. I think someone here uses those too. It's just disappointing I have to pay for shipping twice (48$ each!)
