Tuned a little more. The final number for the rods are 105mm ctc. I only use about 80 degrees of rotation. I need new connectors/rod ends the ones I'm using now have too much play. You can hear them rattling. The motors turn at 41 rpms. And are rated 310in.lbs. torque or 35nm. Comes out to a linear velocity of .45 m/s.

Ty, I need to update I have since replaced the pots and have made new connector rods. Tweaked profile. Adjusted then adjusted more on the rig so on and so on it never ends. I'm hooked on motion for sure.

haha, I understand completely. We just finished building our house and on my first day off in five months did I sleep in? Nope. Did I find a good book and relax on the deck? Nope. I hauled the motion pit to the new man cave (Mission Control) set it up and did a quick upgrade to the traction loss system before spending the rest of the day getting pummeled in iRacing by my new Holden Commodore! :)

added a 12 volt proto board for the fans, moved the nano to the side and drilled a hole for external usb access, added fan with led temp to case, added quick connectors to case for pot hookup with external access.

this one is finally done now i can swap it out with the first one i built.

New design for mounting my potentiometer. this will allow me more freedom with gear ratios. It also removes a pinch point where i had meshing gears before. The plate is repurposed from a bed frame.

Thats a pretty cool design @bruce stephen ,,,i was toying with the same sort of idea but using an Oring as a pully with the pot right next to the motor shaft,,,
I did have a look for a belt but couldn't find one small enough,,,did you find any shorter belts than the one your using or can you cut and glue it to any size?

    Cheers

Yes @stevemontuno cut and glue. I used a razor to slice off two teeth from the belt then glue the toothless part to the backside of the other end. I used CA glue, stuff gets brittle we'll see how it holds. its t2.5 left over from the 3dprinter build.

first test went well. this is 2.22:1 ratio. can switch out pot gear to change ratio. Ive got a bourns 10k pot in there right now in case i destroy it. they are only a couple dollars. now to put it on repeat and see how the belt holds. I may have to purchase the proper adhesive.

EDIT: the ca glue didnt last as suspected. headed to store. there are always zip ties as a last resort.

Hey @bruce stephen, I think these motors are working quite well for your rig mover, does that mean that for just the seat mover they will work even better? Thanks

not sure @BondeX , i'm not familiar with the seat movers and would be speaking out of turn. the design and leverage will dictate torque and speed attained. these are slow so they require a long lever.

Thanks @bruce stephen just learnt something new that if you have slower motor, you need long lever.
