Cousin of OSW (Open Sim Wheel)

    Sorted now I had mixed up to of the wires off the arduino, all working now but have a new problem although the feedback works correctly it feels so week I'm running PH-8M motor off a scooter powered off 2 12v battery's connected in series to put out 24v, for some reason it only works at 4Mhz anything more and I have to reset the ibt 2 controller after a few seconds.

    Can't find any specs on the motor all I know is its 24v and its off a scooter the model is PH-8M

    That is a 0.6 hp motor at 25 amps so it has plenty of power.

    I would imagine you are overheating the ibt2 and it is shutting down.

    Turn ffb down to 50% and see if it takes longer to shut down.

    Are you using the arduino leonardo to control the wheel ?

    Yes I'm using the arduino board, silly question but if I put it on 20kHz would that improve the motor out on 50% if not what motor would u recommend to get max power out the ibt

    which software did you program the board with ?
    is the ibt2 getting hot ?
    does it trip out in both directions ?

    (at 20khz the noise should go)

    To start with, you can remove one of the batteries. I assume that you have no need of the full speed of the motor.

    Ok now it runs on 20mhz on 100% but only on 12v power but still week I think I need a stronger motor but no idea what is there any way I can use a stepper with my setup

    Also no difference in strength between 12 or 24v even tho its a 24v motor, unless I have a dodgy 2nd battery but it does hold a solid 24v when in use so not to sure

    i don't believe a stepper motor is suitable for a FFB steering wheel, it is designed to increment the rotation by one step at a time - internally the coils and magnets are designed to pulse rather than rotate so it will always have a cogging effect

    your setup with a dc controller and encoder is more like a servo motor

    the current available is more important than the voltage available - how many amps can your power supply provide ?

    are you brave enough to connect the motor direct to the power supply / battery - this way you can feel how much power the motor has available !

    It has and it works very well with a 13nm nema 34

    personally i have not tried one, but i have read reports there is cogging from the people that have built them

    When I get home I will connect it to the battery direct and report bk thanks for all ur help, IF the motor has plenty of power when connected to the battery how would I resolve this if the h bridge is not strong enough to pass the current through

    Ok power of the motor is about the same through the ibt as it is stright on the battery 24v been double the strength of the 12v so look like I need a stronger motor can anybody recommend anything
