What would you suggest, a buttciker or transducers?

Which of the 2 make less noise?

A Buttkicker is a brand of transducer.

The more powerful a transducer is the nosier it is.

How is the power of a transducer measured and how do you compare that value among transducers? Are there multiple parameters /characteristic to compare for the power of different transducers or the difference in power depends only from 1 value?

Also, is there any example of noise that we can hear of transducers ?

To feel the gear switch from 6 to 1, to what parameter in the software should the transducer be assigned ?

As a general rule, a heavier transducer will provide more force. But a heavier transducer will also add more weight that your rig's motors will have to move around, and it will probably require more power to run it, and its best frequency range may be lower than a smaller/lighter transducer so it may perform some effects better than others.

For example just looking at Buttkicker's own products you can compare the "mini LFE" to the LFE.

The "mini" version is popular with simulators because it's not too expensive or large, and only needs 50-250 watts of power so it's not too hard to find a compatible amplifier.

The full-sized LFE is 3 times the price but also much bigger and heavier. The piston that actually moves inside it is heavier than the entire mini transducer. It also really wants about 1kW of power, so you typically need to use expensive amplifiers that probably have noisy cooling fans and require special cabling.

On the other hand the LFE can shake very hard and I've usually gotten the strongest motion way down at 5-10Hz where some other transducers can't reach. Here's my old rig with four LFEs operated by two 3kW amplifiers. I put it on springs, and at the right frequency the transducers alone could make the entire thing bounce up and down:

I considered mounting them on my newer motion rig, but after getting them attached I decided I didn't really want to make the actuators have to deal with another 50 lbs, so I took them back off and will be trying mini LFEs instead.

Hard/sharp thump effects are probably best at lower Hz, while continuous effects such as engine RPM may need higher Hz. In one rig I had really large transducers on the corners and a SubPac seat cushion which has smaller transducers. I configured it so that low RPM engine rumble would go to the big transducers, but as the engine RPMs (and the vibration frequency) went higher it would switch over to the SubPac.

Noise might come directly from high frequency vibration as you get into the hundreds of Hz, or from rattling parts in the rig if the transducer vibrates at a resonant frequency, and sometimes from parts inside the transducer colliding with one another when it reaches its operating limit.

The Earthquake Q10B is about the same wattage as a ButtKicker LFE but costs yet again twice as much. I think its big advantage is a much longer throw on the piston, so it can produce stronger motion without the piston running into the housing (which makes a loud bang in the LFE). I don't recall if I've ever seen someone actually use them on a driving rig, though.

Has no one made an upgrade from H3/P3 to an H6/P6 yet...? i'm still waiting for someone to confirm/deny that it's a worthwhile upgrade ffs....

    Hi,

I don't know if anyone can help me on this, but I notice on aerofly FS 2 the game data output on "roll" is putting out -90 more than what the data should be reading....so the seat is always leaning to the left....is there a way to adjust that so the output read 0 instead of -90?

    thanks

Objectively SimTools offers far more individual configuration and game support, at a competitive price point, and also supports a huge array of both DIY and commercial motion simulators. But the great thing is it can be tweaked to play nice with other software, if people prefer to use those.

How about the feeling of switching the gear from high gear to low gear ?

Do you have videos please ?

That works only when switching gears up, from 1 to 6. When switching down from 6 to 1, there is no snappy gear change motion whatsoever, no matter the vales set for surge

I have a P6 from DOFReality. Would it be possible to enroll in beta testing for you?

I am dying waiting for a solution that is plug and play and works for as many games as possible.

I am not getting that with simtools at all

The question that I have is if your software needs hardware add on to give all the effects , like the switch down gear, that I am not getting with simtools.

Could you please explain us what the software would give us and how the hardware come in place in conjunction with your software ?

    thanks!

Do you have any videos of your program working on motion simulators? like the dofreality motion rigs..?

    Thank you!

Will the beta version compatible with the 6 dof be also available in 4 weeks?

I am asking that because you just mentioned the 2/3dof as example
