Sorry, Silent , I was assuming the PluginUpdater already handles the offset-files correctly. When copying the EliteDangerous64_Offsets.xml to C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\SimTools\GamePlugins the plugin works nicely! Thank you for the update!

We have a problem with the plugin updater and patching just spent 3 hours on @Pauljg79 pc via team viewer trying to get ED to work. The plugin updater works used with the xml ED plugin installs the plugin and xml file , but when you patch the game it overwrites the plugin we have just installed with some xml file from April I have no idea where this file is coming from as I tried it on my PC and it does exactly the same @yobuddy maybe you could have a look at this.

Also @Pauljg79 game engine does not receive any data into game engine no data in tuning centre no matter how many different ways I tried. Game was detected by game manager and all blue and connected, I even went and made the old plugin without the xml file and still no data, I'm at a total loss tried deleting everything to do with ED in the simtools folders and also tried reinstalling simtools but still no data getting through to game engine. The pointers are correct as i installed cheat engine and hooked up to ED and they were spot on.

Every other plugin works that he has it's just this one that doesn't and it's proper battered my head I have run out of ideas

    @SilentChill,
The plugin still has the old code in it for installing the xml file.
We don't need that anymore, as we have a nice external offset file system now.
So let's remove that from the source code.

Will you please open the plugins source code and look at the PatchGame function.
Replace all that is there with : (we don't need it to create the xml file anymore or install the wow file.)

Public Function PatchGame(ByVal MyPath As String, ByVal MyIp As String) As Boolean Implements IPlugin_Game.PatchGame
    Return True
    End Function

(You can remove the un-needed resources now also)
Compile and that should do it.
If you need any help I'm here buddy!
Let me know how it goes,
    yobuddy

It could be that when you move the file there by hand, the file gets locked and can't be opened.
    maybe check the file permissions.
(SimTools plugin installer had to address this problem.)

    Guys,

I had the same problem some weeks before, and I solved this by this , as I wrote before:

    1. delete the xml file from the folder (C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\SimTools\GamePlugins\EliteDangerous64_Offsets.xml)
    3. run game engine and game manager as usual, after run elite. Game manager will give message about missing xml.
    4. close engine and manager and copy the xml file from the plugin zip to the same directory as before. (C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\SimTools\GamePlugins\EliteDangerous64_Offsets.xml)
    5, run as usual.

Maybe its worth a try! Should it be some windows based issue???

BTW, after a few hrs of testing I can tell this is the BEST plugin in Elite's plugin history till now. No issues with
changing ship, fighting, docking on planetary stations, CQC, no random movements....
    Well done, Craig!

    Cheers,
    George

    Craig,

Just an idea about the guy's issue:
Is that important that game has been installed by steam, or ED launcher - and launched from steam, or ED launcher?
At me the game starts from EDL, working fine.

100% agree with you @George Dobransky (see my earlier post). Best plugin so far. I ended up playing ED for over 7hrs yesterday checking this plugin out in 'main game' and CQC.
Missus is out tonite on a works Xmas party so I've a whole evening free to play. Shame its just 5 degreesC in my garage (where my 'ship' is) - so gloves and overalls on - lol

    Guys,

Something strange is with that xml, 'coz when I had the same issue with, when I just overwrite the xml in the
directory, nothing happens. After I deleted the file and simtools recognised that missing, maybe something
has changed in simtools, 'coz after I close simtools and copied the SAME xml file -that overwritten before several times- It has started to work....
    strange, strange.......
Is that already tried to change the attribute of the XML? If not, woth a try!

    George

I tried everything I could think of but game engine is just not outputting any data at all. I even made a proper plugin without the xml and it still did not work. Never ever seen this problem before.

PS: the new offset workes great! thanks Graig!

In this way maybe worth a try to start it in (win7) compatible mode? did anyone tried that?

Something could be with .net framework versions?

To insure its setup correctly, please Try this.
Install the current plugin, then patch the game.
Then install the plugin again and you should be good to go.
If it still does not work let me know.
    Take care,
    yobuddy
