Thanks, I'll take a look at it this weekend.

    Hi guys.

I've got my 3DOF motion chair for Elite Dangerous about as good as I can get it now, whether using Joystick plugin or SilentChill's great ED plugin. I include a vid of its features and performance (at less than 50% power btw), at the end of this post. I've 100's of trouble-free hours in it.

Anyway, the reason for posting is that I'm taking my motion chair to an Elite Community Meet nr.Reading, Berks on 14th April. There are over 150 people attending including some flying in from abroad. There are also 3 people from Frontier Developments attending. The organisers have set me a space aside (7' x7') so I can fully demo the chair in ED (10am 'till midnight - wayhay!). They are talking about streaming some of the event online. I also said I would be happy for other 'commanders' to have a fly in it - and provided the organisers with a 3-page Risk Assessment and Method Statement for its (supervised) use by others. I really want to promote motion simulation and its game-changing aspect to Frontier and the wider gaming community. I also have Oculus CV1 as part of the setup and really hope to get the guys from Frontier to 'have a go'. Of course - this will all be in Joystick mode which is still great fun.
I also have my prototype 6DOF rig too (1/3rd scale - you will see it in the attached vid). I'm planning to take that too and demo it with Motion Data from NoLimits2 - to show the great performance and possibilities game data API's can deliver compared to 'joystick' mode.

Now, this seems like a great opportunity for me to explain to FD - face to face, and give them in writing what game data we would need in the form of an Elite API. This is where I need some clarification from @value1 @SilentChill et al.

Scanning back through the posts I have found the following API requirement info; "Rotation Values (Angular Speed) for Roll, Pitch and Yaw (all in radians/second). Force Vector Values (Accelerations) for Surge, Sway and Heave (all in metres/second squared). These should all be in 'local coordinate system' i.e. the ship."

I know that in the past we have had issues with motion not always working in SRV, or in VR. Would the requirements listed above give us all we need for all modes in the game OR would we need the data in more coordinate modes than just 'local ship'?

I know from my experience with NoLimits2 and motion that a simple change in the Run command sets up a 'telemetry server' which provides the motion data to the simtools plugin. Is this the kind of thing we want/need from ED?

I also note the Xsimulator stats quoted by @yobuddy on page 6 of this thread - and will also use them when promoting our cause.

So, there we go. I'm not sure that many people, or even FD devs get chances to see/try a motion sim - but now here is the opportunity. Its probably one of the few chances to really promote - in 'hands-on' practical way directly to FD. I didn't wanna miss the chance so can anyone confirm/amend/specify what exactly we need and in what form. I go in 2 weeks.

    Hope you like the vid...

Great video man that's a pretty bad ass rig!!! REALLY hoping you can impress the devs enough to get them to take our community seriously and start supporting us with a nice API. I don't think that's going to be a problem though.

Very impressive! Such engineering requires a lot of dedication and commitment. I'm sure that they will see the full potential. I would join you at the event with my own rig if I could but Quebec, Canada is a bit far with a 200lbs rig! Thanks for helping the community in getting that long-awaited api. The more resources and help we provide to FD in term of pointers, the quicker they will get back to us with what we need. Best of success with your demo.

    So this is still broken?

I just checked and can see the values for pitch and roll at least... but I'm not going to look for pointers unless I can actually write the 64bit plugin.

I wrote a 32 bit plugin before for Elite....

@yobuddy why isn't there a 64 bit plugin tutorial yet?

If you honestly want to contribute to the community, send the pointers you have found to @@SilentChill. This approach will also guarantee, that the pointers work on different systems.

So I do all the work and someone else gets the credit?
Everytime there is an update I have to get someone else to implement the pointers again?

If you post a x64 tutorial I'll make a video showing exactly how you do it with Elite so everyone can do it themselves...

Give me a good reason why you won't share with everyone how to create a 64 bit plugin? It makes no sense....

    Salut,
j'aimerai contribuer à trouver les crochets mémoire mais comment trouver les valeurs au début?

    Hi?
I would like to contribute to find the memory hooks but how to find the values at the beginning?

Hey man that sounds excellent! Do you think it would be too much to also ask for a couple of other variables like throttle level and location/amplitude of incoming weapon impacts? Those might be cool candidates for the tactile feedback- you know- while they're giving access to all of the amazing motion data that I KNOW they will give us access to after your amazing demo :D (also has a potentially larger audience- the "buttkicker" crowd, etc).

@SilentChill I get this error after exiting the game. https://vgy.me/SPsdvg.png

Game Manager shows the game as running, but no motion during the game and no virtual axis movement.

The files in the zip appear to be mid-2017 vintage?

    Just tested this, simtools changes blue when the game is running, but no motion. When I quit out the game I get this error;

    Capture.JPG

I installed the patch as admin etc, not sure if there's something I did wrong, but all seemed to be in order.

I tried to run the steam version both in vr and on screens.

Edit: Just to add to this, I also tested patching in normal mode without admin. Doing it that way gave no errors, but no motion outputs were being sent from the game in tuning centre.

    Cheers

Many thanks @SilentChill - I concur, loads fine but no data. Hope you can sort it. Kev
