Apart from the jokes ... that are windshield wiper motors? what car? have the steel gear? because I saw that you edited the original pin with a threaded rod that I wanted to do but I have the plastic gear in my engines.

The motors are VW wipers and the cogs are plastic but there is a steel rod running through the middle which goes out to the threaded part where the wiper would normally fit on. It does just look like plastic but just drill plastic cog that in the centre and you will find steel.

the welding looks ok, just go over it with a grinder and weld along it again. No problem. My first welds were shocking, but it didnt fall apart.

I like to run a few beads on a scrape piece of the metal similar to what I'm going to weld to ensure my settings are right before starting on the real thing. If your just starting out, run lots of practice beads before moving to the real job. Videos can only teach you so much, good welding comes with lots of practice.

Perfect !! was what I was looking for a base of steel to weld a bolt M10 on the side of the lever and the other a bolt M 6 for the potentiometer.

They look like the same motors but are very pricey ! I only paid £15 each for mine. I will try and get pictures of the cog for you.

I have got it all setup and working perfectly now in SCN Util just need to hook up simtools and get driving My motor brackets need strengthing too as they a wee bit bendy

Yes I agree the price and high... but it was just to see if they were right.

I got my new motor brackets made yesterday and got it setup , its amazing how much power those little motors have. I have to get some more steel rod as i chopped too much off, doh !! Should have it setup up with simtools tonight and Asseto Corsa im hoping
Total cost so far is around £200, its ruff around the edges alot but this is just a test

Yes that is a chopped up old felt tip pen i used to connect the potentiometers

I got serious issues with my pots, they giving off loads of noise its the way they are connected because when i slightly bend the brackets the noise stops and everything okay. Its not good as they are making the motors overheat Im gonna have to find some alternative to pen casings lol

I did get it all hooked up to simtools ok and it was working perfectly all be it with alot of noise going on. Will have to try again tomorrow work looms at 6am grrrrrrr

the motors could be overheating as they are probably being overdriven 2-3 times their rated current. Ive had that issu with wipers, just put fans on them.

No they arent even moving and they are getting hot, its an awful noise they are making when they are just sat there nothing.

Its how my POTS are connected need to stop the jitter/noise what ever it is

Looks like one is totally knackered but the other is sweet, think it would be able to lift my house lot of power. Luckily my mate has another he can get hold of so should be able to replace my wiper motors soon
