    It has begun!

    And @noorbeast you are so right when you say the project starts simple...and then all the additions come creeping in! You should see what's in my head now! LOL

    This weekend is one of progress.... I have everything in my hot little hands right now bar the moto monster shields.....

    I have a question...

    What should I use for rods? M12 x 1.75 rose joints do the job? OR should I get sway bar links and extend?

    Great! I have ordered those and I presume that 12mm threaded steel rod would be perfectly functional yes?

    And the base is now together. The bracing is going on now.... It seems to have no torsion twist whatsoever at the moment, so the bracing is only going to help it along further.....

    Most use square box tubing with nuts welded either end for the rods, with some threaded rod either end to connect to the heim joints. Mine are unusual as I created them from solid aluminum round bar, which I tapped either end.

    You will have to reinforce the motor mounting, it's too weak with a simple L square shape ;)

    Indeed sir! There is a lower half on the inside that's not mounted yet and the motors will be strung together with a reinforcement bar between them.... so yes. they will be sufficiently braced (onehopes anyway!) :D

    If I were to use pots instead of encoders, would a 10K linear wirewound be ok?

    10k linear is fine!

    personnally, I would recommend CERMET pot and I have read that wirewound don't give good measures... but some people have found different information and say that wirewound is as good.

    So, my 3 and a half year old walks into the garage this morning and says
    "Dad. What are you doing? Why are you being so noisy?'
    To which I reply, "daddy's working on a project honey..."
    Ava - "What are you doing?'
    Me - "Building a chair honey... "
    To which Ava replies "but we have SO many chairs Dad!"
    Me - "But this one moves honey..."
    Ava - "Dad. So does the one in your office. It's on wheels. If you need it to move, I will push you around while you are sitting on it..." And she said this with the most pragmatic of expressions on her face. I am sure she thinks her Dad had gone nuts! LOL :D

    My princess. My love of my life. All grown up and being a nagging woman..... @ 3 and a half...Sigh.... ;)
