    That is looking great!
It must be an amazing immersion feel with these 3 huge screens!!!

Wish I had the space and the dough for that kind of set up! ;-)

    5 starts for the video!

    Cheers,

Unfortunately, I could not keep that configuration of 3 projectors due to the space it takes...
And, they were low resolution (720p), which is no where near of 3 1080p TVs, which have a much better pixel quality than big projected screens... It must look awesome!!!

I hope you invite me to take a look at this rig of yours in case I come to visit Toronto in the future! ;D

    Cheers,

You're right about the difference in pixel quality. This setup is a night and day difference from the 720p projector that I was running before. The huge screen was nice but it still felt like something was missing.

Definately!!!! :D. Let me know if you are ever in town.

    Thanks for the invitation!

I don't have any plans now, but if I come to Toronto I will let you know! 8)

Though the immersion is amazing for sure with 3 TVs/monitors, I'd probably prefer the bezel-free 3 projector setup still. Even if the res is little lower.
Let's hope they get out these flexible foil screens on the consumer market soon. Either as a big screen replacing the monitors, or even wrapped arround the helmet including motion detection attached :)
    However, great setup!

    regards

I would prefer a bezel free setup as well so I'll be keeping a close eye on that technology as well :).

Mike, I've had the same problem with the 5870 blinking issue. I fixed it with a bios flash. Apparently, older monitors with the adapter need a stronger signal strength.

You can get the Bios and follow the discussions around it here: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/fo ... 2&start=75

    Great Job!

    Thanks Inglewood,

I did the bios flash. I'll let you know if it fixes the issue for me as well. Sometimes it will not show up for days so only time will tell :).

hey ledfoot you get any time to make that video with the vette?? i'm super jealous right now, if the vette looks good i might have to get 3 monster screens like that as well. i'll probably get 3 46 3d displays though and play with 3 massive 3d screens. can't beat that :D

    Hey NJ,

I'm planning on doing the video for you tonight. I'll should have it posted in the next few hours. I purchased 120hz screens so that I could experiment with 3D technology as it matures as well.

Do you have any more info on what is currently available other than the offering by Nvidia?

Here is the vid that I promised. I'm running the iRacing Corvette at Mosport and I noticed a 20 fps hit with this car. I usually get about 87 fps sitting in the pit and about 150fps max out on the track. With the Vette I get about 65 fps in the pit and my fps is dipping below 50 for brief moments on the track. I'm sure it has to do with the detail in the mirrors as the Vette has large rear view and side view mirrors. I'll play with the configuration a bit more to see if I can optimize it and get a bit more fps. Looks like another 5870 in a crossfire configuration may be in my future :)

Also, the loss of sync and flickering has not occurred since upgrading the video bios but I'm not going to say it's fixed just yet

    Nice screen layout!

Have you tried measuring your X-Sim input rate via a log file with this car? I'm wondering if the reduced frame rate is also reducing the game outputs and therefore your quality of motion? I haven't measured this with iRacing yet. Some plugins are definitely bound by the FPS, such as rFactor's.

It does not feel like the motion is being affected but that does not mean that I'm not loosing inputs. I'll get a log of this so that we can see for sure :).

    Thanks Splendiddd,

I'm using Vizio 47 120hz 1080p LCD screens. I chose these because they are a great product for the price and they have a fairly thin bezel,

Mosport is one of the more demanding tracks to run in iRacing. you take this biggest hit in fps here then you do anywhere else. if you turn off the render 3 screens option you should be fine with the fps, but it sucks you'd have to turn it off.
