    Hello,
I installed the game msfs 2020 addon on simtools v3 a while ago, the first time I installed the plugin on simtools it worked fine, but I had a problem with simtools v3 and I had to completly removed and install simtools v3 again. After this I can not make simtools works with msfs, I have been trying many different solutions I have read here.
I removed and installed msfs again. I have disabled the antivirus and the firewall. I have been trying with differents simconnect.dll and simconnect_upd files. I tried with files on SDK installation (If you are having problems with motion data, try replacing the file SimConnect.dll in AppData\Local\SimTools\MFS2020. A different version of this file may work better on your system. Look for one in the game installation directory, or install the SDK and look in MSFS SDK\SimConnect SDK\lib.). I have also set my computer language to English Local. I tried even in another computer.

The folder C:\Users\marmo\Documents\My Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator is empty.

The folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator has this:

    upload_2023-7-9_13-35-21.png

    The folder C:\Users\marmo\AppData\Local\SimTools3\GamePlugins has:

    upload_2023-7-9_13-37-44.png

With the SimConnect_UDP_debug file I get this:

    upload_2023-7-9_13-39-23.png

With another simconnect_upd attached here I get this:

    upload_2023-7-9_13-51-35.png

The 358.cfg file at C:\Users\marmo\AppData\Local\SimTools3\GamePathSaves: "Not Used"

But I cannot get telemetry from msfs:

    upload_2023-7-9_13-42-28.png

    Cheers.

EDIT: I can make it works with simtools v2, I install the plugin and once patched (is not required but I can only make it works on simtools v2 if the game is patched) virtual output starts to received telemetry data from msfs.

I am new to motion simulation and to this extremely helpful forum and thread.
I am trying to get my MSFS2020 hosted under Steam on my Windows PC working with my YAW2 3DOF motion simulator. For this I have purchased and installed SimTools 2 and now I am setting up the plugins MFS2020_Plugin and Yawvr_InterfacePlugin_v04. I was able to install both and saw my YAW2 moving when using the Output Testing in the Game Engine.
I also was able to patch my MSFS 2020 and when starting it from within Steam the selecting it in the Game Manager (both - Manager and Engine - running as Administrator), then the Game Manager's status turns to blue es expected.

    upload_2023-7-30_12-41-13.png upload_2023-7-30_12-41-53.png
However, whatever movement my plane in the active game is doing or turning to, my motion platform stands still. Again using the Output Testing function verifies that it is connected and that it works.

Is there anything in addition that I need to do in order to finally make it work?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Access to SimTools v2 plugins is either via forum activity coins or paid membership, see the FAQs here: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/coins-and-how-to-download-plugins.2/

Spamming posts for activity coins is against the Forum Rules: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/forum-rules.9527/

SimTools v3, which is currently in open Beta, includes plugins in the new integrated plugin manager for the paid versions: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/simtools-v3-public-beta.17329/

Both SimTools v2 and v3 free version include the fully functional plugin for Live For Speed, specifically for testing purposes.

If Output Testing works as expected then can I please check you have followed all the instructions for the MSFS2020 plugin, as it has some extra requirements:

    Notes:
    • This plugin installs and runs a separate application that it uses to get motion data from the game. This may require GameManager to be run as administrator when patching.
    • A config file is included with this application and is located in AppData\Local\SimTools\MFS2020. This file can be used to set the rate of data transmission, which by default is 100 Hz. It can also be used to change the IP address that the application sends data to, which is necessary when the game and GameEngine are running on different PCs. In this case, change TargetIP to the internal IP address (e.g. 192.168...) of the PC running GameEngine.
    • If you are having problems with motion data, try replacing the file SimConnect.dll in AppData\Local\SimTools\MFS2020. A different version of this file may work better on your system. Look for one in the game installation directory, or install the SDK and look in MSFS SDK\SimConnect SDK\lib.

Must be time to reinstall msfs then:(

I also seem to have really muted touchdown mostion in msfs. Everything else seems to be ok, but I can barely feel the wheels touch down even when I land pretty hard. Is this a known issue with msfs?

Flight sims in SimTools v3 can have separate min/max settings for 'In Air' vs 'On Runway'.
Take a look at the pic below, see the little clouds icon, you can click that to toggle between the two sets of max/min settings.
Simply adjust the settings you use when on the runway.

Are people getting good results with MSFS and SimTools V3? I havnt tried to use it yet because the enhanced DCS plug in is not available for it yet.

The v3 plugin has both Degree outputs for roll pitch and yaw, but also the rate output for roll pitch and yaw also. So I'm not sure there is a need for an enhanced version of the dcs plugin for v3, as the one plugin covers the outputs from both v2 plugins.
    Take care,

Thanks for your response and taking care.

Yes I have exactly followed the instructions i.e. GameManager run as Admin when patching and tested with various simconnect DLLs (also the one from the SDK). I did this multiple times but alwas got the same result.
When running the game, I see in the console of the Connect_UDP.exe I the following messages which remains as such even when running MSFS 2020 and creating some plane movement. There is no difference whether using the original simconnect.dll that came with the plugin or the one copied over from the SDK).

*** UDP application for SimConnect to SimTools communication ***
12:03:14: Packet rate is 100 Hz
12:03:14: Target IP address is 127.0.0.1
12:03:15: Open exception: Die arithmetische Operation hat einen Überlauf verursacht.
    12:04:10: Sending packets successfully

There is no further message following this while the game is ongoing.
The third log line notifies about an integer overflow exception.

Does this point to something I may have done wrong or that needs some configuration changes?

Game and GameEngine are running on same PC.

Can you please post pictures of all of your settings, including the Tuning Center while MSFS2020 is live in a flight.

    Please see the screenshot below:

It appears, that the counters in the green section of the Tuning Center constantly and quickly change values. So there seems to be something alive.
Which other settings do you want me to provide?

Another observation that I made recently when running Wireshark against the IP address of my motion simulator; When in game there was a constant stream of UDP messages arriving at the motion simulator but allways carrying the same pitch, roll and yaw values. Doing the same with the Output Testing showed, that there were also UDP message sent to the motion simulator, but carrying different values that changed with moving the sliders in the test and of course as the motion simulator moved accordinlgy.
Maybe this sheds some additional light on the issue...

It sounds like maybe you do not have any axis assignments setup for the game yet?

The Tuning Center shows the plugin is working. You likely need to capture then save the Max/Min values.

Can you please post you Axis Assignments.

The axix assignments were indeed not set. Settings the axis assignment did the trick!!!
Now that I have made these assignments I see movements on my motion simulator in game.
I am currently trying to find the optimal settings for the MSFS2020.
Maybe someone also uses a YAW2 Pro 3DOF with Simtools and MSFS2020 and can provide a preset for this.

I obviously misunderstood the concept of the Axis Assignments settings and thought that this is already done by and part of the Yawvr_InterfacePlugin_v04 also installed and used.

Many thanks for all the help and I owe both of you a large beer!
