I would suggesttrying to refine your SMC3 settings first, to make sure there are no overshoots and the motors can drive whatever load they need to.

The demo version of SimTools will only work with Live For Speed, which is included specifically for testing purposes.

@noorbeast will live for speed give me what I need to test for flight simulator?? (Pitch,Roll) and how would I test those axis in P3d?
What would you recommend to be an accurate control?

While this layman guide to PID was written with JRKs in mind, the simplistic overview is a gentle analogous intro to PID, with additional links providing more accurate/technical information, depending on how far you want to dive down the PID rabbit hole: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/a-laymans-analogy-guide-to-pids-pid-tuning.219/

@noorbeast I don't want to go into that hole at all. I did not know what PID even stood for and after reading about it for a while, I still don't, even when they explained it. All of that is way above my head. You said: I would suggest trying to refine your SMC3 settings first, to make sure there are no overshoots and the motors can drive whatever load they need to. What do you mean by "overshoots"? and how could I test that. The SMC3 is a great alignment tool however what all those lines actually mean I don't know. I just make sure the green and blue are together when the motor in in neutral and power turned on. When asked, : What would you recommend to be an accurate control?, you didn't say. Maybe I should ask what is a better control to use other than the cheap IBT-2 controller that will work with my Arduino sketch? On the other hand I do however want to thank you for all the info and help you have given me with this problem. Your knowledge is way above mind.

    Terry.

What the SMC3 settings do is allow you to tune how the motor responds, so that the lines not only stay together as the motor moves, but do so while delivering the maximum power possible. An overshoot is when the lines wildly diverge momentarily, in other words the motor is overshooting the expected and intended position.

That tuning is unique to every hardware, there is no magic bullet in terms of settings for accurate motion and some basic understanding of PID is necessary.

So it is not about swapping hardware, but rather ensuring the maximum performance for any given hardware combination.

What each of the SMC3 lines means is covered here: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...driver-and-windows-utilities.4957/#post-48121
