    awesome stuff

Question number 1063 time! What do people do regarding seat rails on full frame setups and pivot point? I would assume that moving the seat forward/backwards would change the balance point for different individuals. Just set balance point up for myself and do not worry about it for others?

Yes sliding the seat will SEVERELY effect the pivot point and could prove problematic if you dont have a way of ensuring its in the right position.

I built my rig for me, So no Slider's or any adjust-ability. Yes it could be built in properly but i dont have the real estate for that and being a convert from a static rig had its own challenges.

So i say Set it for you and call it a day.

Mine was a radical solution, I made the pivot post adjustable instead, more to accommodate different control setups than people: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/dx-racer-compact-simulator.5866/page-3#post-63007

Hi @Boomslangnz, if you have a sliding seat you would have to incorporate a mechanism to add a counterbalance weight to the front or rear of the sim. Then its a matter of experimenting with different weights to counter the amount of distance moved from the centre of gravity, and the weight of the new driver.

Thanks @AceOfSpies, but ive been thinking about an easier option. Leaving the seat fixed in a single position but putting the pedals themselves on rail arrangement so to move the pedals forward/backwards. It's not technically the best option available as really when a 60kg female jumps in vs a 100kg male the balance point is going to be incorrect anyway for the 60kg female (im properly around 92kg or so)

I guess I could simply add weight to the seat to get it at the balance point weight depending on weight of individual

Doing a system as you state would be great and keep the balance point at all times but Im not sure how I would accomplish it.

thats a better idea, i do that on my dual racers, seat mover part stays still, wheel and pedals slide back and forth. balance for a heavier person, and then lighter people doesnt bother it. I know from experience. Balance for heavier.
Refer to this thread about making up a sliding wheel stand

+1 and even a little improperly balanced, its not like the motor's will outright fail, They just wont be as fast per say.

Im 150lbs, and i Managed to squeeze a buddy who's gotta be 270-280lbs and 6'+ Sure he didn't manage to get his Knees up enough to touch the pedals but the Motor's managed to wiggle him around with little effort.

Well on the way @Boomslangnz...the New Year is not that far off and trust me you will find it useful to use the time you have to refine your planning even further. It is actually changing your mind after you start building and the small details that really add to the build time.

    No probs @Boomslangnz.

I am no pot expert but there are a couple of threads if you care to search for them and find out more. The Halls are pretty accurate and not subject to breaking if something goes wonky.

And to add to that, They can be "locked up" from a mis aligned pot mount and Can actually be salvaged after that point. Imo the Hall's are UBER durable.

That is quality gear @Boomslangnz and I am guessing you have already had some fun with the new controllers and the Rift.

Ordered the hall effect sensors now and will be starting first steps tomorrow on this build. Plans still aint set in stone at all and I keep changing my mind every day haha. Pretty sure im going to take my original sim and modify for a layer with a new racing sim made at top layer. Im still not sure about adding surge or not as seems most do not bother which makes me think perhaps its not that great and worth adding to my design.

Keep working on those plans, paper costs nothing but changing your mind once you start building changing your mind cost money, time and material! Worst case you can plan to add surge and the like later if you decide you want it.

Has anyone got a picture of how they connected the CTC lever to worm gear drive motors from motion dynamic?
