@Nick Moxley can you help me regarding the JRK wiring. I know you were asking similar questions recently but just wanted to double check

For the pot wiring, do I have to join the GND pins together and the 5v pins together on the JRK itself? also I don't have to worry about the AUX pin do I? feedback purely goes to the feedback pin? and aux has nothing going too it

    Thanks

No you do not have to join the GND pins together and the 5v pins together and can just use the three pins closest to the chip. The aux pin could be used if you want to enable disconnect detection. Be careful not to wire the power the wrong way wrong or it is instant fried JRK!

another question actually regarding simtools itself, I was considering getting it to play around with while still building my motion sim but saw you can either buy it or for use in forum? Is this correct? but it says that for forum use I only get to use it for 1 week and it has ads? I didn't relise it was subscription based basically or am I way off target here

Way off target, You can purchase a week's worth of buying time with coins, Within that week you can download as many plugins as you want,

the description beside where you purchase explains it rather well,

"Get access to the download section of SimTools Plugins. Download as much plugins as you like for your favorite games with your coins you earned for activity in the forum. If you do not have enough coins you are able to upgrade your account. When the access expires you can still use the downloaded plugins."

You can get more detail from the JRK manual but if the JRK detect disconnect with AUX option is enabled for either the feedback or the input, then the JRK will drive AUX low for about 150 μs each PID period to check if the feedback and/or analog inputs are disconnected.

I got my linear rails, just wondering about the screw on the side of them, I tightened and loosened them up but couldn't tell what they were doing? Do you know @noorbeast

I would need to see a picture of what screws you mean, but basically the sliders have a plastic cage held in place that in turn holds the ball bearings.

Do be careful not to have the sliders come off the rails at an angle because they can accidentally dislodge the ball bearings and they are really hard to get back in the plastic cage...I learned that one the hard way!

@bsft I'm pretty sure I've seen either a guide or a post you made on setting up the JRK's with simtools etc on this forum somewhere, do you have a link to it at all? I can't seem to find it again

okay im heading back up north to continue some work on my sim this easter weekend and im hoping I can even plug in the jrks and get some motion working, just trying to understand the simtools software and thought I would try get it ready on my pc so I don't need too much setting up. Hopefully I end up with all 4 motors connected so firstly I setup 4 interfaces with JRK 12 and 9600 bitspersec and make each motor axis 1,2,3 and 4 for each interface? If Im reading the guide correctly I think that's right. Im still cofused a bit with trying to setup the forces as im not sure what forces my rig will be using and does everything get set at 20%

maybe I need some rest to get my head around it a bit

You mention hooking up 4 motors. You have 2 on the shoulder mount, what axis are you planning on with the other 2, drift and heave or something else like surge?

yes 2 motors for behind seat, 1 motor for surge and 1 motor for traction loss

I honestly have no idea what forces im meant to be using for each thing to be honest @noorbeast I had a look at simtools last night but it seems confusing lol

Take it one step at a time.

First get the JRKs hooked up and calibrated, follow @eaorobbie's excellent guide: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/playseat-to-2-dofseat.5401/page-2#post-56352

Make sure you have downloaded a copy of @bsft's JRK guide: http://www.xsimulator.net/community...-set-up-simtools-jrks-and-write-profiles.112/

You have 4 axis to set up but start with 2DOF.

Set up communication between the JRKs and SimTools: http://www.xsimulator.net/simtools-quickstart/#Communicating-with-the-simulator

Next set up the axis: http://www.xsimulator.net/simtools-quickstart/#Setting-up-Simulator-axis

Next check the movement is working and direction is correct, but don't get too hung up about the latter, it will be pretty obvious when you get to in game testing if it moves the wrong way: http://www.xsimulator.net/simtools-quickstart/#Moving-your-Simulator-with-mouse-controller

Install the plugin (turn off the rest of SimTools to do this): http://www.xsimulator.net/simtools-quickstart/#Plugin-import

    Patch the game: http://www.xsimulator.net/simtools-quickstart/#Patching-the-game

Test in game, run and refine axis settings one by one.

And don't forget that the community is here to help, so as long as you have internet access you can clarify each of the steps further as you go along.

Once the 2DOF is done the other two will seem pretty easy.

Nice, sort of like mine, although I later fitted another motor driving a heave module in the seat as well. Look forward to seeing some pictures/video of the finished product.

I need to find some connectors to slot onto JRK for hall effect sensors firstly so I may have to drop into jaycar and see if they sell something which will work plus I need usb cables for jrks still which hopefully jaycar also have
