    Just finished up wiring sim after a full day of doing bits and pieces. Going to bed now but tomorrow I'll have it running finally I hope. Only thing I don't really understand is the PID stuff, what's gonna be a good default for setting that stuff on my sim? I've seen setups for 2 dof but I'm not too sure what to do with my setups

    How do i set my max and min values with the 50:1 gear boxes and this bit the setup guide??

    As I cannot move the 50:1 gear worm gear from motion dynamics at all. Do I have to manually take the hall effect sensor out and try move it to what I think will be min and max values? Still put resistance on it when it kicks?


    Turn on power to the Jrk.
    2. Press Detect Motor Direction.
    3. Follow prompt and bring lever to its middle(level seat) position and place a bit of resistance on it because if you don't the lever may kick all the way around and break your pot.
    4. Press ok , the lever will kick (hard) and then either return nothing (all good) or will prompt some thing has been inverted and you will need to apply settings to device.

    Guide to setting Feedback on 50:1 and 60: 1 gearbox motors

    With the 50:1, 60:1 gearboxes which are near impossible to turn by hand

    Set the pot up on a bracket on the motor gear box, so the pot reads directly off the motor shaft.

    with setting the feedback, once I fitted a lever, I unscrewed the gearbox from the motor and turned it but hand to the most level position I could. Then I screwed it back on.

    Next step there was no 12v power on, just the usb cable power

    Setting feedback, with the pot connected with its shaft to the gearbox, I opened the utility program, went to feedback tab, click "reset to full range" , clicked apply, the I unscrewed the nut holding the shaft and using a permanent marker texta, I rotated the pot body around and I looked in the graph, (top right hand corner) , in fact I double clicked it to make it bigger. I turned the pot till it started to show a reading of the line. Once I found the 50% mark, I put a mark of texta on the motor housing and a mark on the pot body so I knew where the centre was, from that point I turned it slowly one way till I found the near 80% mark, put a texta line, then turned it the other way till I found the 20% mark in the graph, marked it again with a texta. Then I moved the pot back to the centre.

    Now I know where I need to set my max min.

    With the pot shaft still loose and no 12v power, I clicked the "learn" button and slowly rotated the pot body one way till I got to my first texta mark, click "ok" as that was my "max" settings, then rotated the pot body the other way till I got to my minimum mark, clicked "ok" , then apply settings.

    Then I rotated the pot body back to my centre spot and tightened the nut holding the shaft body.

    I then went to the MOTOR tab and set in max accell 100, max duty 100, max duty while feedback out of range 100, current calibration 130. This makes the motor move slowly so once you test, you dont risk breaking anything because you have a chance to stop the motor.

    Then I applied 12v power and went to the INPUT tab of utility and ticked the box "automatically set target", clicked run motor, and I moved the slider to see if the motor moves up and down from centre.

    If it does something like spin right around and stop, try changing motor direction and or feedback direction in the appropriate tabs in utility program.

    To get the actual centre position more spot on, I wrote the current feedback numbers on paper, then I manually change the feedback numbers up or down 50 at a time , applied settings, moved motor in input tab slider, and did this several times till I got it about spot on.

    I'm trying to set my max and min values right now for my jrk and it's not really working correctly

    Do i look at that scaled feedback up the top? It basically only gives me a tiny bit of movement on my hall sensor from 0 to 4095 and I can't set up the traction loss correctly

    When I try set motor detection test it says it's not center and gives a warning after I set it all.

    Ok got 2 of the motors working so far. I've got an issue with my power supplies I'm using the hp server ones which should be good for 56 amps but they seem to stop if I set traction loss up to 60% or so just while I was playing around with it, even happened once when set to 20% so not sure if I've got something set up a bit wrong. Works fine in jrk configuration and doesn't stop power supply at all

    Oh it may be a jrk error as I get a red light but I assumed it was power supply as I have fans wired up to them and they stop too. I unplug power supply and power back up and it's all up and running again

    It does sound like a disconnect but I am not clear if you mean the actual PSU also shuts down.

    Do check all the wiring for a loose/bad connection.

    Yes the psu shuts down too. Both motors have done it

    Traction loss seems ok at 15% but any higher and it does it and surge is set at around 50%

    Seems ok at these settings but I'd have to check more for sure I suppose

    Strangely in assetto corsa I get the disconnect if I make surge much higher than 50% whilst in no limits I had it at 100% and it only did it once in about 6 rides

    Have you tried swapping one of the shoulder mount PSUs that I am presuming does not shutdown?

    When jrk throws out a error it shuts down my psu aswell which is kinda strange. I've turned down max duty cycle and put a brake duration which has helped it alot.

    Max duty is now 400
    max acc 600
    brake duration 20mm
    max current 0
    max duty when feedback out of range 400

    What's the deal with forces in sim tools? Is everything meant to be under 100% when adding forces together per jrk?

    I find in dirt rally if I have roll and pitch at 40% it's fine, however once I add like sway and heave and make everything 20% then jrk throws out an error pretty much immediately once racing
