Yeah, the old simtools gpb plugin didn’t have support for vibe or dash so I’m using simhub for now. Hopefully I’ll be able to migrate everything to Simtools v3 in the future.

Got some assembly work done today. Hiding the cables in the aluminum profiles gives me goose bumps! :grin

Spent some time in the workshop yesterday finishing up some of the aluminum parts.

Just waiting for the bearings now to start upper platform assembly!

We got sponsored by SKF with all the bearings we needed. They also helped guide us what type elements to use where, super helpful!

    Yesterday we got them installed:

Now things are really starting to come together. The fairings are due to be deliviered any day now, so we can start fitting them and painting.

    Thank you Arturo!
Feels surreal being this close to having it finished.

The best! SKF was founded in Gothenburg, my home city, so I could be a tad biased..

The fairing manufacturer is having some trouble delivering in time, so an impatient mock-up mount of some test fairings made it possible to test the new controller design and other geometries.

The steer clamp for the force feedback unit needed some reinforcing, so I made a ring that tied the bottom of the "forks" to the motor.
Made a little hole in the bottom of the left side to mount a steering damper in the future.

Had a more lengthy test run yesterday, still without the full controls unfortunately.
And wow, I underestimated the tuning part of Simtools. There is ALOT of hidden immersion in there.

Attached Dayton vibe pucks to the seat and footrest mount. The rig is a bit too stiff for them and the effect was quite mellow. I guess I’ll just have to get bigger ones :)

And also attached a steering damper to the handlebar controller. Feels awesome! Eager to see the effect it will have on the force feedback..

Yeah. It doesn’t love me back though so I left it in the corner.

I attached the Daytons to the fuel tank to feel the vibrations in the seat and handlebars. Also, being made of fiberglass, it transmits vibrations very well… if you don't feel it well on the seat, try changing places, there is a lot of difference if you feel the vibrations well or not…

It looks better and better... congratulations:cheers

Thanks Arturo! Yeah, I suspect it will be better when (if) I get the fairings I ordered. They are quite solid glass fiber so should transmit the vibrations quite well.
Also I ordered two Dayton bst-1 units just in case

Does this technically count as a 5DoF including the force feedback steer controller?

Thursday was the big unveiling day! The presentation of our thesis.
Everything worked great, except for something disturbing the rear motors so they didn't react as fast as they should. I'll have to troubleshoot.
Anyhow, it was an amazing experience and I'm really looking forward to tuning this thing in.

Tried adding suspension travel to the plugin and it really looks spectacular. Only tried it on the scale prototype so far though.

    upload_2022-6-11_22-53-11.jpeg

One hour after we finished the presentation I got a notification that the fairings were ready to be picked up, about a month delay.. Ironic!
