Just my two cents, I found once I set everything to run at 100-120% of the total, I found it a bit tame.

I did prefer it when settings were around 60-70% on each force. Not sure if I'm damaging anything or shortening lifespan of the motors or something.

Maybe I need to go back to 100% and really utilise the tuning centre, which I haven't really done. I found I'm really enjoying it as is it, but will probably do some tweaking over the weekend.

    New problem now :(

Was all working fine, nice and snappy and iracing away lovely.

Went for dinner, turned it all off. Came back, turned it all on and now there is a permanent rumbling of both motors.
Everything responds ok but the rumbling is obviously wrong and everything heats up fast.

Have reset the axis stuff and tried resetting the ard board etc but still it rumbles.

    :sos

How strange. Can't think of where to begin by troubleshooting? Haven't had that issue.

I don't know what could have changed without it being manually done. ..Hmm weird.

I'm sure you'll sort it, and it will probably be something simple.

Did the pots slip or shift under your testing? Might they have been altered with the forces of the rig moving?

Pots seem ok, did you need to position yours in a certain position?

Yes, Anytime the motors were vibrating and getting hot really quickly, it was the position of the pots were wrong.

Turn it on, try pushing them gently into the gear on the motor, and see if anything stops vibrating. I seem to remember having to use a voltmeter to measure the middle position.

Again, I'm NOT an engineer. I have ZERO clue how these things actually work. I just followed the instructions, and asked @Wanegain a lot of questions! ;)

Can you post a video that shows what you mean by rumbling. Things heating up tends to be serious, but is that the motors, control boards or what?

    Interesting!

Maybe I got lucky with the positioning earlier, I never set them to a middle position. Do you remember what voltage you had to find?

The motors. Just trying the pots thing. They were not centred, now are. Going for a test run!

Pots now in the middle but same issue. Shot a little video of it.

You can see it start shaking then I tried the roll slider and it functioned ok but still with the shaking.

When you were testing iracing, were you in the chair or operating remotely and watching the brackets?

The video looks like the motors are flexing on the brackets even at low level motion. When you said it almost threw you out of the chair, it could be the pots and motor gears are slipping with violent motion. (Just spitballing here)
Its a bit like the blind leading the blind with me I'm afraid.

Currently testing remotely and watching. All is calm and smooth as it should be...plus the shaking!

    What a day!

We have stripped it down and found the motors were shorting through the brackets and then through the chair!!

All works fine on the original ard code now, the short was causing all the problems. We have made a wooden chair frame to mount it now so there won't be any problems.

Settings pretty good too but more tuning later :thumbs

So, was the metal of the chair touching the bolts of the bracket on the top plate?

Yes, exactly that. Had a friend over and he saw sparks or we wouldn't know still. Weird the motor axles can short onto each other.

Been on it for a few hours now and have 4 forces set up pretty well.

Congrats! Enjoy the tuning, then get some racing done. And post us a video!

Had some good racing today and managed to shoot a bad video of it working. Really need a cameraman for this!

Hi @Paul Shortland there could be more potential of the tuning parameters. The moves are rather soft and IMO not in real time - only IMHO as far I can see while watching the video. If you want you can upload your settings, perhaps we can advise you to get some better results.
