    Yeah so it seems. Ok, so looks like wiper motors it is then. Just need to remember to isolate the motors .

    Hi Guys, Im just having a little go at setting up my electronics. In the Game Engine on SimTools, in Interface Settings, which preset should I use ? I have an Arduino Uno and a Monster Moto Shield with 2 x 90zyt motors.

    I see stacking the motomonster on top of the Arduino as a better idea, im struggling to find out which wires are required. Does anyone have a diagram or photo ?

    Stacking might not be a good idea with these amperage ranges. It might not allow sufficient cooling. The other issue is that none of the Arduino/Motomonster sketches on this forum are set up for direct stacking, in other words the pins do not line up from one to the other as you would need for stacking.

    In SimTools "Interface Settings" there is no stock presets for Arduino/MotoMonster setups. It is dependent on which Arduino Sketch that you choose to use.

    If you are using RufusDufus' code look at the first post in his thread. I posted this further up in this thread.

    Hi Guys, I have been a little busy lately, but i have some spare time this week, Im looking at wiring my Arduino and MonsterMoto in this time. After asking various people, Im just going to try RacingMats system. I have a query , I have found different ways to wire the system, which of these is correct ?

    @Nath Older : As I told you by PM, just stack them!

    EDIT : stacking has some drawbacks as @eaorobbie mentionned: this should be avoided if possible

    Below the pinout between Arduino and not stacked Motomonster
    (the arduino's and moto's pins used are also listed in the resources I linked)

    Arduino /..Motomonster1
    ......GND <-> GND pin
    ........5V <-> 5V
    .....pin 4 <-> pin 4 inA motor1
    .....pin 5 <-> pin 5 pwm1
    .....pin 6 <-> pin 6 pwm2
    .....pin 7 <-> pin 7 inA motor2
    .....pin 8 <-> pin 8 inB motor1
    .....pin 9 <-> pin 9 inB motor2

    The picture is fine but I soldered some too much wires than necessary.
    yours

    Hi @Nath Older!

    Your sketch is nearly good: I would suggest you to turn 180° the motomonster (same way as being stacked and less lines crossing)

    the pots should be on A4 and A5 (not A0, A1)
    and motors pins are 4to 9 (not 2 3 4 5 9 10)

    Code:
      #define potL A5
      #define potR A4
      int inApin[2] = {  7, 4};  // INA: Clockwise input
      int inBpin[2] = {  8, 9}; // INB: Counter-clockwise input
      int pwmpin[2] = {  5, 6}; // PWM input
    yours

    @eaorobbie : why did you disagreed the post #28? it's the pinout corresponding to the code...

    Thanks Mat, I think i am now making progress. My current problem is, i wire all this up and with the arduino code set, i have coontrol of 1 motor via a potentiometer. The Potentiometer in arduino A4 work the motor in both directions. but the other moteor doesnt move at all. I have switched the motors and potentiometers around and all work. The motor that is plugged into A2 & B2 on the monstermoto works, but nothing from the motor in A1 & A2,

    any ideas??

    Ok, I have had another play around, and i think the problem was the soldering on the Monstermoto. Pins, 8 & 5 I have re-soldered them and I am now getting a bit further. I have some voltage to both motors. when turning to potentiometers, 1 motor gets the full 12v in both directions, and the green LED on the monstermoto lights up bright.
    when turning the other potentiometer, the othe rmotor only gets 2v in 1 direction, and the LED on that side only comes on dim.

    Now i am home, I have had a chance to hook this set up to my computer,, and in the game engine and game manager I have been able to get the 1 motor working back and forward in the Output Testing in the Game Engine. still nothing from the motor running from A1 & B1 on the Monstermoto. Of the Pins on the Monster moto Shield, which pins are directly linked to motor A1 & B1? I have Pins 4,5,6,7,8 & 9 plugged in. could one of these connections be bad and cause this problem ?

    any help would be much appreciated.

    Because stacking is not the best solution for the monster moto in our applications as stated in other post by people who have tried this and had many issues with the stacking once you drive it hard as your vids show it was not running hard at all so you may not have experienced the issues that can arise.
    Plus you can not run the highly recommended isolators to protect you system if driver fails. lol.

    :D ok, some progress, I now have both motors running via the potentiometers. in both directions. And i can get both motors turning via Game Engine. It turns out, my soldering on the monstermoto shield was bad. On pin No.5, I had burnt the circuit board. so i had to do a slight repair to the board. (scratch away some plastic to reveal the metal track from pin 5, then solder the pin in the hole and make sure the solder touched the exposed track. seems to have done the job.)
    Must be and will be more careful in future. Now I feel i can begin to build my rig. Thanks so much for the help so far guys, especially RacingMat , Thank you. :cheers

    Hi guys, sorry for the long gap, I have now started the build, I did plan it all on google Sketchup but also kind of made it up as I went. Here are some pics so far. Any feedback would be welcome,

    Hi guys, Im back. finally. After months off the project to get married, im back on it. I have set up a small test rig to get the electronics up and running, all seems to be working BUT...... I have my Axis mixed up in SimTools. When i accelerate and brake, it tips the rig to the left and right. When i turn left and right it tips the rig back and forward. Is there just a simple fix in SimTools, or do i need to wire up my motors differently ?

    Thanks in Advance,

    Nath
