    I'm sure they will support both. Would be daft not too, VR and racing sims just go together and especially as the game is on Steam. It's the only reason I have a copy of Assetto and I can't be the only one to buy it because of VR.
    Was just reading the wiki of Assetto, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assetto_Corsa , must say it is not very kind to the game.
    I see they are based in Italy so perhaps you could pop over and have a word with them:)

    Yep, may they'll support both, ut I wouldn't want to wait one more year for the Vive implementation.
    Anyway, we just have to wait and see. Meanwhile I start selling both my Gtx 670 for at least a 970

    OK, so I decided to wait for better times (especially more money *lol*) and wait for the first reviews to make my decisions...I am still happy my y3D vision projector equipment but I am hungry to get more realism...

    Could be that the Swiss didn't take much interest in the DK1/DK2 or just VR in general or simply the local laws didn't get things ready for their announcement.

    I'm all ready here and thankfully Sweden is included in the initial countries they will ship to. Tomorrow we are off and preorders start at 17:00 here so I will be smashing F5 like many others.

    Just to clarify, I think Oculus's and HTC's VR should be called 2nd gen VR and not 1st gen, because in the 90's there were few VR like, Nintendo's Virtual Boy and this one...

    20 years passed and I still have mine with a Interplay's game called Shattered Steel a Mech Warrior looks like game, it's a little dirty but I think it's still working... I also used to play Doom 2... :(

    Few if any of the VR devices from back then enable presence let alone continuous presence. The question is, if it doesn't replace your reality with a virtual one is it virtual reality? So I think it's pretty fair to say these are the first VR headsets that actually fit the term.

    I think those VR devices discontinued because mostly were expensive, many people didn't know they existed, few fails and none of game had native VR support. Just like electric cars, the first electric car appered in mid of 19th century but due the high cost, low speed, low range, etc they were discontinued.

    And about inmersion most of people who tested IO Glasses get amazed with it, even if 90's game was only sprites and low poly 3D. So I think in term of inmersion it's the same reaction as the new VR (which I didn't tested yet) but ofcourse new ones have much better technology, light weighted, high resolution with many new motion features and the most important thing is nowday's game have much realistic graphics and they native support VR. I forgot to mention marketing stuff also make the difference.

    I have a DK1, one of my early posts was showing off DK1 graphic pipeline optimisation: http://www.xsimulator.net/community...est-of-latest-oculus-and-tridef-updates.5662/

    But I got my DK1 from Oculus after the Kickstarter. No big deal, it is nice to see the original backers being supported, as none of the Oculus development would have happened without them.

    The second coming of VR would have eventually happened as Valve and others were doing some pretty necessary experimentation, but it would have been years later before there was a move to specifically develop a consumer device.

    Interesting prices being guessed at on various AU tech sites.. I am seeing three arguments:

    1. Same as a high end GFX card - Being pitched at the serious gamer market. AU$800-$AU$1200
    2. Same as a next gen console - Fear that Sony has the wealth to undercut the market. AU$400-AU$600
    3. (God I hope this one is true) - At cost price and less than the Dev kit, so that Rift / Facebook can put the device on as many heads as possible and get profit from software licenses - AU$199 - $299.

    Can you imagine option 3??? I'd buy TWO!

    Most likely US $400-$600 based on recent tweets Palmer made about the CV1 Rift being more than the developer kit, but in the 'ball park' price wise.

    Good timing, my usb cable to the hmd has just broken:( works if I twist the cable though :) so might be able to muddle through till the CV1 arrives.
    FYI the break in the cable is where the head strap for the headset attaches to the case so 14 months of being flexed/ bent as you put the rift on so it hasn't done too badly.
    Oh. and I'm going for 500 usd.

    Anyone remember the cave systems? It was an attempt to try and restart the VR bandwagon but due to the size and cost it was never an option for home users. It did spark some interest in what was considered a failing technology though. I think one of the universities made a version of quake which worked on it too. After this the next stage was augmented reality on smartphones and that seems to be where the microsoft hololens is sticking with.

    As much as I'm interested in get this, I'll wait it out unless the price is below $300. Most of the racing games right now have way too much back ground world movement for me now. Can't imagine all that movement going to be much fun with VR.
