    The joystick patch question.

I put the joystick plug in into the game manager. I am not following how it is supposed to work. Does it mean when it is active it will just pass my joystick movements to the motion no matter what I am playing?

Yes – with the exception that certain simulations like Codemasters games or LFS must be unpatched before running (because they use the same UDP port).

Thanks guys for your fast and helpful responses. Now the only question is can the Motor Monster run connected to the Aurduino without a load? For example can I connect a volt meter to the Motor Monster without damaging it? Also does any one have any type of software made on the Sketchup that could be used to test our setup? While we are waiting for the motors to come in.

I got the Motor Monster in. I have a few questions.
Can you run it without a load? Do you need motors plugged in or can you just plug in a volt meter? I am looking for a way to test it without the motors which are on order.

    SMC3 Arduino question

The tutorial "SMC 3 Arduino Motor Driver and windows utilities", on page 3 under mode 1 has two potentiometers in the schematics. What is their rating? I think the oreginal had @eaorobbie listed as a credit.

@Rudolf Jan Horak yes you can run smc3config with no 12 v going to the monsters. You can also run them with 12v and a multimeter instead of your motors. Make sure you plug in the ard to PC first and set the com port in config. Refer to smc3 thread for specific instructions.

    The potentiometers are 10kohm.

    Help Help Help

I have the moto monster wired according to SMC3 Ardiono 3DOF Motor Driver Utilities. I ran the setup in Axis assignments. I can do the slider test using the mouse.

I am lost on what is next and how to get the setup to actually work. The Arduino and the Moto monster are wired. I have a 12volt Power supply connected as well as two volt meters for the motor outputs...nothing happens.

What did I miss? What's next?

post pics of your settings. have you patched the game you are using? So it moves with default profile in output testing?

Edit: have you gone into SMC3 utils config and entered the proper com port?
Have you gotten movement in the SMC3 application?

I configured the application from the simtools quick start as follows:
    Select a preset: SIMFORCE GT
Arduino game engine interface has Com6, 115200 data bits 8 stp 1
    output 8

I was able to "Moving your simulator with mouse" the sliders moved but the voltmeters showed no differences.

Is there some screens or wire setup that you want to see to assist in the troubleshooting? @bruce stephen

The wiring was done to match Tutorial SMC 3 Arduino 3DOF Motor DRiver and Windows Utilites guide page 3.

Ok, so I will keep it as programmed, download this file (the latest version) and we should see some movement when I do the sliders or how else do I test to see if the motor monster and the arduino are working.

Go to the link I provided above. Scroll to the second post it is labeled Windows utilities. This is what you need.

Edit: Be sure to follow the section labeled "initial setup". This is in the first section.

You need to read through the entire post the information is there.

Today I downloaded the Arduaino IDE tools
I reconfigured the SMC tools config file to show com port 5
I downloaded the arduiono files and ran them in the Arduino IDE tools(uploaded them)

Now the SMC when set to motion makes sine waves

I think I have all the parts but, I am obviously missing something. Please help. I will be posting some screen shots today to show you guys where we are on this project.
