You can place the fuse as you described.

Electrically, it doesn't matter. In a series connection the circuit is interrupted when the fuse blows, no mater if it's placed before or after the rectifier. The reason behind the rule "as close a s possible to the power source" is that the fuse also protects the cables after the fuse. That would be useful if those cables are moving or can be damaged by moving parts.

A bit off topic. Im going to switch my 3x ibt2 to cytron md13s.
Mode 1 in smc3 without modifications works well?
In your connection diagram i can see you wired the NC pin on cytron boards to a digital pin on arduino. Dofreality leave it unused. Can you explain why?
    Thanks!

Yes, mode 1 works. I wired it this way because I found the pinout somewhere on this site. It makes sense, SMC3 has 3 pins used (ENA, ENB, PWN) plus ground. I can't explain why DOFReality doesn't use it...

Found that pdf showing wiring. Just want to be sure.
As for dofreality, they even use encoders and motor brakes, i think they made massive changes on the original smc3 software.
