Hi so I made it home. I verified my setup and saw that 2 thick wires were leaving my scn5 to go to a adapter that was converting them to the usb to go to my tower. The power box has 1 plug that goes to the wall for power and several thin ones mixing up with the wire that is converting to the usb. So I just have 2 usb plugs to connect to my tower and one power plug that goes to the wall. I also have a on/off switch which I never used as this was to freeze the seat so that the actuators do not move around.

I found 2 guides, which one should I follow?
I hope this info helps you?
    Thanks

Hi I found the install guide. I am guessing I need to follow the jrks guide? Also I am not able to download any plugins for the time as I am a new member so I need to wait I guess?

    @Wizzard

When you connect all your stuff and plug it in your PC, what does it do? Does it install the drivers?
In fact, what do you see in your Device Manager under Ports?
Do you see any SimXperience COM ports like here:

A quick question before I start all these procedures. My actuators have not been connected for about 5 years should be greasing them or putting oil or something to loosen them up or something? Its not like they've been jammed for 5 years as my son often will move the seat while playing his ps3 so they have been moving around some but nothing like they should be.
    Thanks

    Hi
when I plug in my 2 usb's I see under device manager com3 and com4 (no mention like yours the word actuators next to them just com3 and com4)but no drivers or anything are installed. Is this normal? Am I forgetting a step?
Also, don't I have to do something with my actuator serial numbers?
    Thanks

I'm lost now. Let's start from scratch. Do you have a simXperience box?

On your 7th post I see only a power supply and no electronic component. Do you know what I'm talking about?

@nclabs LOL not really ;) I thought that was the part. Which electronics do you need? I dont have any other component.
When i was running simxperience, i dont recall having anything else.

@nclabs , i do have knowledge but as mentioned, i haven't touched this rig for 5 years so i am not too sure about the terms of components.
I have 2 wires leaving my 2 actuators that converts to a usb and the other wires connect to the electrical box. If it will help, i could take pics of the wiring.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks

Ok, i took apart my wires and here is my setup. 2 x actuactors with 2 wires each. One going to a plug that converts to a usb(pic) and the other going to the power box in the pic. From the power box a thick black plug that goes to the electrical source. I also have one grey thick plus that goes to an on/off switch (this just prevents the actuators from moving)...yes I tried turning that on and off and it didn't work. Besides, I have never used this on/off switch before.
Any brave takers to help me out? Thanks

It looks like basic wiring / conversion of SCN with RS USB adapters, pretty much same thing like in tutorials. So COM3 and COM4 are probably your SCN's, from what it looks like, it should be pretty easy to run it with Simtools. Maybe changing of one SCN ID will be required but first try to test it as it is now.

Connect everything, open Simtools GameEngine and follow this tutorial by @nclabs

You need to set two interfaces, each for one axis (SCN's)

    SCN5 configuration.
    • Click on Interface Settings, Interface1, Output Type and select SCN from dropdown box..
    • Under ComPort, select one of the COM ports connected to you SCN5 (if you don't know it, check the Control Panel on Windows, under the COM Port section).
    • Under Packet Rate select 10 ms.
    • Under Assignment Axis, select Axis 1.
    • With the Speed bar you can adjust the speed of the actuator, select a temporary value of 10.000 (value that you can increase after some testing).
    • With the Acceleration bar you can adjust the acceleration of the actuator, select a temporary value of 500 (same thing here, you can increase it after).
    • Save
    • Now do the same thing with the Interface2, using the other COM port, and selecting Axis 2 under Assigned Axis (important!).
    • Choose same speeds as in first interface tab
    • Save
    • Restart GameEngine
    • Once you restart GameEngine, the SCN should move up and down and return to center position.
    • Last thing. Click on Axis Assignment, Axis Limiting and, to any axis connected with a SCN actuator, select a value of 90%. This is very important to preserve your actuator in the long term. Not doing this can lead to mechanical damage.

@prodigy , Thanks for your advice. I tried that (99% sure i followed the correct instructions given), yet when i got to the step where it says test the movement in simtools my rig was not moving. Also under ports in device manager i just have com3 and com4 and nothing written next to them. And when i plug the usb into my computer, you usually hear a beep or something saying installing the drivers which i dont hear anything or get any message. I find this strange.
I will try once again tonight but if anyone has any other ideas, i am open, thanks
